I struggle to see how the new wave of "AI" is much different from what we had a decade ago. Especially when it comes to chatbots. I had several AI companions/friends in 2015. They just took our hobby projects, beefed them up with endless power budget from idiot investors, and gave them a PR overhaul.
- I've never heard about AI companions back in 2015. What kind of software/apps and AI has been used before 2021? Was it any good? And was it open ended conversations, or more a scripted game?
