Conservatives win German election but far-right AfD doubles support

This is a hell of a lot of inside baseball for those unfamiliar with German politics, so I'll highlight this:

Exit polls showed the AfD did well among younger voters, winning in the 25-34 age bracket with 22% ...

This is roughly in line with Holocaust denialism in the states in that age bracket from polls I've seen. We're literally too far past WWII for young people to believe something that atrocious could happen, so they're blithely voting for Nazism.

  • It's crazy they're taught about the holocaust but are in favor of the same ideals. Anecdotally, the younger gen in the US that I interact with are either intentionally clueless and/or hate filled. (a lot of my coworkers are gen y and I see a lot of the gen Z online - ie Musk's DOGE fuks - being unfortunately naturally fashy.) I think this new fascism might be even worse than the mid 1900s because the people now, for the most part, know and still choose hate. Just my opinion.

  • I've heard (no idea if true) that young people(tm) that only know the fascist party through their Tiktok spam dont even realise their fascists. Not sure if that's because of uneducation or lying on the part of the fascists. Maybe both.

    • I was in Gymnasium in the '90s. Education still seemed to be going well, unlike in the states.
