An alarming share of older adults use credit cards to cover basic living expenses, AARP reports in a new survey.
It's honestly not too bad an idea, provided they are old enough.
I have no expectation of inheriting anything. Between medical bills and consumer debt, and the fact that my family is poor as shit anyway, there will be nothing to inherit. They might as well run that credit card debt up, because it dies with them.
I might feel differently if I had any reason whatever to feel bad about cheating credit card companies out of their money, but banks and financiers as a whole address not on my list of favorite people.
Yeah honestly, set up that minimum payment autopay and go buck wild. If you're broke enough to not afford groceries I'm assuming you don't have much of if any assets to will.
Make sure your family members know that if any credit card companies call them saying they are responsible for the payments that weren't covered by the estate, they are lying. If you never acknowledge responsibility for the debt and never make any payment (i.e. acknowledging responsibility for the debt) there ain't shit they can do. "The cardholder is deceased, you may file a claim against the estate. Do not call this number again."
