Can we finally kill off consoles now, please? They haven't been relevant or necessary for 20 years now. There is nothing you can do with the console that can't be done with a PC.
Because it will kill your fanboyism for your objectively inferior console that should, by all rights, be long since dead and buried because PC gaming does everything infinitely better? Is that why you want truth-tellers like me to disappear? Because I think that's why.
"PC Master Race" is a laughably bad term that should have stayed a one-off joke by a shitty content creator. But tell me one single advantage of a console. You can't. There is none. Price? PCs are a huge range of prices, some much cheaper than consoles. Game prices? LOL, so much cheaper on PC especially with sales. Flexibility? Damn straight. Fuck trying to play an FPS with gamepads, it's terrible and always have been. A vast number of games that is far and away beyond every single console of the last ten years, combined? Yep.
PCs are superior. Don't call them "master race" because of the shit connotations. But they are superior, and consoles should be dead.
Games haven't been cheaper on PC for over a decade. Newsflash: Games go on sale regularly on most consoles. Usually better deals than PC. I got Dredge on Xbox for $12, lowest its been on PC is $25.
PCs have a huge range in price but it was literally impossible to build a PC as good as a console for the same price as a console when they released.
Advantages of consoles:
Portability: Steamdeck and the Nintendo Switch are far more convenient than streaming PC games to you phone. Even the PS5 and XBOX Series consoles are easier to move around than the majority of PCs.
Cost: Games are the same price on PC and Consoles in the majority of markets. Steam right now in Canada is actually more expensive than all console storefronts. The intro cost of the machine itself is generally cheaper. On release to get a PC with the same specs as the PS5 you would have to spend $1500 USD. 3 times the price of the PS5 and a game. I just checked pcpartpicker and you still need to spend 800 USD to get a PC on par with the PS5. Still twice the price of the PS5.
Ease of use: Out of box, without question, consoles are easier to use and have a better set of accessibility options for all users.
Coop and controllers: Each console has their own controller that is more comfortable than M&K in extended play and more convenient for couch play. Couch coop is almost exclusively a console benefit. Console controllers benefit over K&M in racing games as well and have dead zones for all other types of games. K&M lacking a dead zone feature is extreamly annoying in a lot of games, especially stealth games.
Maintenance and compatibility: Consoles are easy to maintain. No worring about upgrades or hardware/OS compatibility.
Gaming options: Without resorting to piracy, consoles offer the largest variety of gaming options. More games release on console than they do on PC. That being said a lot of these games are exclusive to certain consoles. Nintendo is extreamly bad for that.
PCs do have thier own pros like lack of exclusive games, upgradibility, customization, over all better performance, Minecraft Java edition. To say that consoles have none is just delusional.
I got Dredge on Xbox for $12, lowest its been on PC is $25.
What are you even talking about? $25 is the base price on PC; are you claiming that it's literally never been on sale on the platform? Because that's obviously, hilariously, wrong.
The dude you're arguing with is an absolute toolbag with his blind PCMR bullshit, but you aren't helping the case against him by spewing blatant bullshit of your own.
Imagine thinking anyone knows or cares what currency you're talking about when you don't bother to specify.
The website you linked doesn't account for Gamepass discounts.
You're making your case even worse. I like consoles, but arguing that paying a monthly fee to get a 20% discount is better than the regular deep discounts that PC games get is laughable.
Because I'm from the old days of gaming and watched consoles fade into irrelevancy while their makers basically brainwashed an entire generation into buying garbage. It's basically killed gaming. That's why it bothers me. Gaming is essentially dead from what it used to be and the fact that you and your generation pour money into style over substance garbage is absolutely pathetic.
You seem to have some impressive confirmation bias going on. What makes you think gaming is dead? The only real argument here, which you aren't even making, is mobile gaming market, but that seems almost remarcably as if it's created a new market and not really affecting pc/console gaming.
Edit: just read some of your other comments now. Feel free to move on, not interested in a discussion.
When the PS5 released I was contemplating getting a new PC first. Then I saw the crazy GPU prices and shortage. Ps5 was an incredible purchase at the time to play all current games without spending over 1k to do the same on PC. That alone is a huge reason to still go console. That plus the exclusives which were great.
"Play all current games" .... at $60 or more a pop, with no sales. Meanwhile, wait almost no time and see deep discounts on brand new PC games, negating your "price advantage" bullshit. As well as tons of classic games which are far and away better than new style over substance story over gameplay trash games for cheap or even (legally) free. Plus no monthly XPSBox Plus Live Advantage fee to let you do basic things that are taken for granted on PC.
Console "gamers" are delirious. Wake up and see how infinitely better PC is.
You really think there are no sales on console games? That just shows how you have no idea what you're talking about. There are sales on the digital stores pretty much every week and if that's not enough you can look for sales in physical stores or even buy games used.
Steam sales used to be amazing years ago but are not that special anymore, so maybe you need to wake up? The prices are pretty much the same across all platforms today.
I like to play on my PC at times, I have a Steam library with around 700 games, but if titles are available on console I rather play them there because it's more convenient for me and if someone disagrees with that I don't really give a fuck. PC people who thinks they are on some kind of holy crusade just weirds me out. Mind your own business.
I'm older, I don't buy games like that anymore. The only game I got when I first got it was miles morales and that was $50. I already had ps+ so I was also getting the monthly free games and also going back and playing backlog of ps4 games I never got to which they patched to make them run better. They also included like 25 free games with the ps5 purchase of essentials which I played through a bunch. 2021 really didn't have a great gaming year to me so I really didn't buy much at all. Control released in Feb and was free as well on ps+ immediately. Ff7 remake dlc I purchased but that was like $20. A bunch of the games I was on the fence about getting ended up being free later as well like ghosts of tsushima, recturnal, and star wars force. I spent more in 2022 with must buys like elden ring, horizon, and God of war
They also had a streaming service, which is now bundled together for 1 price, which wasn't the best thing ever but I got a year free because a friend got a code which came with his internet service when he moved and did not have a console. I think it was about 300 extra games to play as well and definitely had some good stuff in there.
Sure gaming could be super expensive but I really don't have the time like I used to so waiting on things I know I won't play immediately turns out to work pretty well with the monthly games given and now the other service as well which gets a bunch every month. I have like 3 years left of top tier since I brought a bunch of ps+ for cheap when I knew it was changing over and since I still had the streaming service it matched it for 3 extra years at the low charge. So about $120 for all 3 years to play a ton of stuff.
Nah, I don't ever replay games so I use gamefly. Something I can't do with PC. Guarantee I've spent significantly less on games and played just as many as you if not more lol. You don't own games on Steam etc anyway so I decided not to pay owner prices for what's technically a rental anymore. I'll just actually rent it for a fraction of the price.
Frankly, this is some tribal high school bullshit. "Gamers" like you are a detriment to gaming as a whole and make the rest of the PC community look like stuck up jerks.
One big benefit of the consoles is that you can resell and buy used games for really cheap on a disc.
I bought the complete edition of witcher 3 for 5 bucks and so far it has been my best investment as I love this game and have all 3 Witcher games on my Steam, but I refuse to pay those outrageously high GPU prices.
I was kind of hopeful that the new gen would be better, but they proved me wrong.
