Find a motto for BuyFromEU like Elbows up from CA

I think it would be great if we can find a common motto for BuyFromEU like the "Elbows up" of Canadian.

I propose something in Latin because English is the official language of only two countries of EU (Ireland and Malta), but the majority of European languages are fully or partially derivate from Latin.

In addition this will show strong opposition to US language.

My personal proposition is : "Et vales, valeo" (When you are strong, I'm strong)

Please propose your motto and let's make the most upvote comment become the motto of our movement

  • The EU has the Latin motto „In varietate concordia“ (United in diversity) and as much as I like it in this particular case I think Latin kinda brings a weird crusader vibe. English is the common tongue. I think it's a huge achievement that a large majority of us are able to seamlessly communicate and I see no reason not to emphasize that whenever there's a chance to. Also I doubt there's a more concise motto than "buy European" to get the point across. Doesn't hurt to weave in an "elbows up" here and there in solidarity with our remaining allies across the pond but other than that I reckon we're set.

    Just a remark: how many Europeans do speak enough Latin to be able to understand a motto versus how many do speak enough English to be able to understand a motto?

    • Agreed, also the assertion that most are Latin derived seems questionable. I count Portugal, Spain France Belgium (part), Italy, Romania, Luxembourg (French partial) Switzerland (part & not EU) . Ireland (part & saying English is Latin derived is really stretching it)

      Non Latin (Germanic / Slavic) is Belgium, Lux (Lux lang), Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Norway (not EU) Finland, Estonia, Latvia Lithuania, Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Austria, Switzerland (part), Croatia, Montenegro, N.Macedonia, Greece, Malta, Cyprus, Ireland (part)

      Did I forget anyone ?

      That gives 9 Latin derived, 24 not Latin (noting double count of partial and including 2 large technically non EU)

      Left out the 3 non EU micro nations of Andorra, Monaco & Lichtenstein but even if included it's 1/3 latin, 2/3rds non Latin by count. Probably the same by population but I can't be arsed to look it up

      (Also ignored the UK for obvious reasons)
