There are many communities still on reddit for which there are no alternatives on lemmy as of yet and if you want it to surpass reddit you need to stop with the toxic attitude and the false sense of superiority especially since a lot of the content on this platform is just reposts from 4chan, x, reddit. If curious folk come here and all they see is toxic threads and reposts why would they stay here? This is mostly in response to the comments I've seen on here not the thread itself.
- Where's the aggression? You want to talk online respectfully, you can do that here apparently, but not there. I haven't seen it yet... There is a paucity of communities though, NGL. I'll practice patience.
- Lemmy’s biggest problem is how aggressive and uncompromising the people can be.
  
  Really? I've seen Lemmings are much more competent, way higher debate ability, far less disinformation. Also I've seen this 10x so far in a month: "sorry, you're right". Almost never saw that on Reddit. And I've had to say it many times too.
  
  Then we are having different experiences here because I see a lot of extremely flawed understandings of political philosophy and basic/entry level economics.
  
  There are geniuses on all sides, I feel its just different priorities and perspectives, not to say they are all geniuses. At least here you can discuss the merits of Austrian economics for instance.

  Those that find a lot of merit in Austrian economics would be a great example of the type of people Im talking about were they more common here. Im not seeing a lot of them around
  
  I'm not saying there's a lot, just a lot more than Reddit.
  
  Reddit has several subs for discussing Austrianism last I checked.
  
  For niche topics yes, Reddit is 1000x the size of the fediverse. In terms of smart commenters and debates, not so much.
