Shazam director swore he'd never do another IP-based movie again after "crazy" backlash from DC fans, but Until Dawn's script was just too good to pass up: "I had to do it"

"I mean, to be honest, fans can get very, very crazy and very angry with you. You can get, like, death threats and everything so after [Shazam! Fury of the Gods], I was like, 'I never wanna do another IP-based movie because it's just not worth it,'" Sandberg continues candidly.

  • I mean yeah. These super hero movies have some of the most toxic fans. Especially since the films have gone so downhill since Avengers.

The other side of that coin is dealing with the IP holders and their corporate vampires.

Definitely a lose-lose situation for creatives.
