The enlightened method:
3rd column: god I hope so..
(they are slim pants)
It wasn't that long ago that women wearing pants was considered to be wrong. Wome used to be arrested in the US for wearing pants.

It's completely arbitrary how clothing got associated to gender over the course of history.
I remember numerous instances where skirts were seen as manly, iirc the scottish and the romans had that notion. I think pants as we have them today were only introduced around 1800? Because they are more difficult to manufacture and were developed mostly for blue-collar workers as protective clothing.
The northern "barbarians" wore pants even in roman times. The romans were agast (TBF, I wouldn't want to wear pants in Italy's climate, either). Since then there has been a bit of back-and-forth.

You forgot the third and most hetero of categories: the short
"Yes I am, and wearing the skirt gives my boyfriend easy access 😎"
I'm not gay because I'm wearing a skirt. I mean I am gay. But not because I'm wearing a skirt!
In the 00’s I started wearing nail polish. I wasn't sure "why", but I liked it, so f other people's opinions.
People thought I was gay. I was bi, but gay guys didn't find nail polish attractive either, so this was a constant refrain.
(Took me until 2020 to realize I was trans)
It's not a sprint it's a marathon 🙏
Scots laugh in light breeze gently swaying their skirt. And jewels underneath.
Why are true neutral, chaotic neutral and neutral evil all the word “ok” though?
I like how this means men are lawful neutral, women are lawful evil and skirts are chaotic good.
Women fought for the right to wear pants. Men haven't put in the effort yet for the right to wear skirts.
And there are still those, who stigmatize women for not wearing skirts.
"yeah but not in the way you're thinking"
It has to have your tartan on it. Then it's a kilt, and it's fine.

Yeeeah when I was growing up there were still old people who went tut tut over us little girls wearing pants and shorts. Dinguses.
Or maybe Scottish?????
Kilt means either one of three things:
I have seen all three in Edinburgh this week.
Groundskeeper Willie would like a word.
idk how we fucked up, I blame Victorian England. Men used to be able to wear dresses and skirts without any issues, and then we decided to strictly adhere to suits. I wish I could find tunics still in stores.
I wonder why femboys and transfems like wearing skirts now.
Is it because these skirts are inherently feminine, and thus it better matches the personality of the person? Or is it because society connects skirts to women, and want to be shoved into the "woman" category by wearing skirts?
I wear them partly because they help me express the (locally, socially constructed) femininity that I feel. I also wear them partly because I have serious trouble tucking, and a flowy skirt is less of a problem than tights. Which is a shame, because my legs look fine in tights.
Third (horny) answer: easy access.
Gender is almost unarguably entirely a social construct. Two seconds in a history book shows this to be true.
It's a learned framework. But with in that framework we have associated sex with gender so intrinsically that separating the two is near impossible outside of a science context. At least in a modern context. This can vary depending on the region and point in history.
So with how linked they are you have skirts to female(gender) in that framework. If you want to identity as female (sex), then you will gravitate to the female gender(gender) clothing options. As a short hand. It's not the only way but it is undeniable that it is one of the easiest.
It's just working with the tools, behaviours and context of the reality around you
Third option: male fashion fucking sucks?
Fourth option: anatomically, skirts make more sense for penis-havers than pants (though there's a reason why kilts traditionally include a pouch, which might be an issue when penis-havers want to dress in women's skirts or dresses).
nobody can stop me and my freedom in my running kilt
