It always kinda baffled me that Ukraine was willing to rely on Telegram, you know, a Russian company.
- Russia is not all black, why do you think Telegram is getting as much backlash from states, media and every government that wants more control over certain groups?

  I don't believe anyone is safe using a smart device if three letter organisations have any serious interest in your persona but i would bet that it is still one of the safer options if you take convinience of usage into play.

- No kidding. I've been iffy about the service since experts were skeptical about their custom encryption algorithm (I think) they created.

Use SimpleX chat instead. It's open source, verified secure by 3rd party cryptologists, and has features like self destruct where you can input a secondary passcode and it will seemingly "log you in" while simultaneously deleting all chat history and recreating an account with your name. That ensures that any attempts to capture group members and torture their way into the group could be mitigated.
- You don't understand how Ukrainians use telegram at all. It's first and foremost a Twitter replacement.
