Scientists are piecing together the puzzle of long COVID. Here's what to know
  • The source you are citing literally says this

“the number is likely much higher due to many undocumented cases. The incidence is estimated at 10–30% of non-hospitalized cases, 50–70% of hospitalized cases2,3 and 10–12% of vaccinated cases4,5

  • COVID surging in California. Is it time to bring back masks, hand sanitizer? What experts say
  • Already 4 million people out of work in the US because of long covid, and 8% of the population are reporting it.

Yet like dementia was a couple decades ago, it is being treated by parts of the medico-political establishment as if it is the patient’s fault, or even a mental illness.

We never learn, nearly every new chronic illness that popped up was first treated as “hysteria” or “mental” or “psychosomatic” in the past, until we figured out the pathology. From most autoimmune diseases, to peptic ulcer to epilepsy…

  • Berlin: Thousands march in COVID-19 pandemic skeptic protest
  • Man it fucking sucks people care so much about not vaxxing. If they vaxxed my family members may still be alive…

And don’t get me wrong vaccines are good, but they don’t perfectly protect you.

I had 3 shots and I’m still bedridden from Long COVID. My childhood friend had 2 shots and he still died.

But if it can reduce the death rates and most importantly reduce the spread, you’d be dumb not to get it.

And now because I have long covid afterb3 shots, every right wing nut in my family is saying I’m sick “because of the vaccines” 🤦 (if they even believe im sick at all)

  • Berlin: Thousands march in COVID-19 pandemic skeptic protest
  • Fuck you you horrible human beings my family member and a friend died of COVID and COVID permanently disabled both me and my mother. Me severely so, completely bedridden.

I fucking hate these unempathetic douchebags who think everything is about them.

  • The punctuality of trains in Europe
  • It’s super funny because at swiss train station they always say

“Train X is delayed by Y minutes, this is due to delays in France/Germany and not the Swiss railways” on the megaphone LOL

  • What's up with the guy in a white t-shirt,(Olympic shooter maybe?) guy being popular in every meme on Lemmy right now?
  • It’s intended to replace prescription eyeglasses because they are inconvenient to shoot with.

It has the same function, except tailored to shooting (only one eye). So you aren’t getting a noticeable advantage vs someone with perfect eyesight (otherwise it wouldnt be legal at olympics).

  • The punctuality of trains in Europe
  • This stat is kind of weird. Punctuality is defined differently in every country.

In Switzerland 3+ minutes delay is counted as unpunctual, while france needs a 15+ min delay. I think in Austria it is 5+ min but unsure. So these numbers aren’t really comparable because they aren’t defining delay the same.

According to the Kremlin, they did not speak Russian nor did they know who Putin was. > > Why did Russian President Vladimir Putin greet the children of just-freed Russian spies in Spanish? > > The reason is straight out of an episode of the hit TV spy show “The Americans.” > > Among the first prisoners stepping off the plane to greet President Putin was a slender brown-haired woman grasping the hand of her young daughter. She appeared to stifle a sob as she hugged Putin. He handed her a bouquet of purple and white flowers, and another to her daughter. Putin also hugged her husband and kissed their son.  > > Then, over the din of the airplane, Putin could be heard greeting the children with “buenas noches” — the Spanish phrase for “good evening.” > > Their parents were undercover Russian spies who posed as Argentinian citizens living in Slovenia and went by the names Ludwig Gisch and Maria Rosa Mayer Muños. They were part of Thursday's massive prisoner swap involving several countries.

TIL: Contrary to popular conception, non-monetary societies did not mainly rely on barter as a means of trade, but relied on gift economics and sometimes debt.

    From wikipedia:

Contrary to popular conception, there is no evidence that societies relied only on barter before using money for trade.\[73\] Instead, non-monetary societies operated primarily along the principles of gift economics, and in more complex economies, on debt.\[74\]\[75\]\[76\] When barter occurred, it was usually between strangers or would-be enemies.\[77\]
