I try to watch the move annually!
This time with my girlfriend for the first time!Why? Don't know how else to break up with her? Stress to her during the movie how much you like the Natalie Portman torture scenes.

I don't like or dislike those scenes any more or less than the rest of the movie. When concerning the movie's plot - the torture you mentioned has a function that builds the character further in a certain direction. It also determines what will happen next. Just like what any other scene would do.
I also point out just in case that I don't approve torture.
I feel like the movie kind of missed the point of the book.

@elbarto777 I felt the same way as @Xariphon . For me the book is anti fascism so it's a critique of the ideology of fascism but it's also nuanced and critical of aspects of the V character who is quite problematic.
The movie is more about "fascism we don't like" (with clear US political references) and V is made more unambiguously heroic and even romantic, with Evie falling in love with him and the crowds on his side (i.e crypto-democratic leader).
Alan Moore on the film:
[The movie] has been turned into a Bush-era parable by people too timid to set a political satire in their own country. ... It's a thwarted and frustrated and largely impotent American liberal fantasy of someone with American liberal values standing up against a state run by neoconservatives â which is not what the comic V for Vendetta was about. It was about fascism, it was about anarchy, it was about England.
V is also a pretty easy Halloween costume for lazy people like me.
Hmm. Depends probably on do you leave the knives out, have paper/cardboard/plastic knives or real fighter knives with the costume!
An easier Halloween costume is Ghostface. No trousers and a shirt/jacket but a robe.
My friend drew the outline of the knife he uses in the movie in cardboard and I added many layers, getting a nice, thicker cardboard knife!
