in reality he could've put up a fight against it / maneuvered out of doing it, but politically he decided not too (or at least i suspect) because abbott, desantis, etc. wouldn't shut the fuck up about the border
Biden's the president. He can set executive branch priorities. He had the option to just stop building the wall. Even if someone found a way to challenge him legally, he's the president, he wouldn't have any consequences.
When republicans are president they do whatever they want then democrats lecture them about how they can't do that so republicans say "what are you gonna do about it" to democrats and then they get what they want
When a Democrat is president they ignore what their voters want, lecture their voters about why they can't do anything and then when their voters complain tell them "what are you gonna do, vote republican" and nobody gets what they want
Latinos are burnt out from Dems because of empty immigration promises. Every election people try telling them to vote for Dems because the Republicans will deport all of them. Republican wins and makes things harder, but then the Dem comes in and continues policy, often doing it in greater numbers. Then latinos opting out to vote for the president get all these ridiculously racist theories about "machismo" being the reason or how they "identify as white".
I don't think Americans will ever realize that Latin Americans can be white. They just call all the white ones "white-passing." Even the ones that look more stereotypically European are constantly told they aren't actually latino or of that country.
Also love when they say Guatemalan-Americans only vote because of indigenous ancestry, as if our country is monocultural.
