Went to see the new Marvels movie yesterday (and have popcorn) - and surprisingly, I did not have a bad time. Maybe it was because of my low expectations in the first place (given how poor some of the recent MCU movies have been), but the movie turned out better than I expected. Is it going to win any awards? Nope. Would I rewatch it in the future? Probably not. But it wasn't a bad excuse to have some yummy cinema popcorn. Brought back home a decent portion of my jumbo bucket too, so looking forward to reheating it in my air fryer and spicing it up with a bunch of different seasonings.
Finally, a day off! The joys of running a small business.... Off to our land to do some more work on the new woodshed, then hopefully out for a ride on the motorbike.
Looks like the rainy days (weeks?) are over, at least here in the Waikato.
We've had the landscaper and builder come over to do our garden. Lots of planting, weeding and eating still to be done. Going to invest in some 'beautiful' concrete containers to grow my second round of potatoes in, because my mum won't allow me to grow them in 'ugly' plastic barrels. I suppose she does have a point - considering how ugly the modern world has become, in our pursuit of efficiency and economics. If only she took the same militant stance against car-centric cities, and modern architecture.. then maybe we would finally agree on something.
We've met so many of our neighbours, and their friends, after my stepdad passed away. Going to start vlogging and documenting my homesteading/urban farming progress on YouTube - and then later this year also getting started with my fibreglass boat-building journey.
Garden Marlborough fete is on today so I'll be trailing my aunties as they spend up large. As much I want to be a gardener I know nothing about anything so it'll be a good chance to pick their brains. And this year I'm telling myself I DGAF about how stupid my hat looks, I am NOT getting sunburned.
Oh man there are some dense people about when it comes to the sun. We saw one little kid with her arm in a cast and everything above the elbow was bright red. Poor thing is going to suffering tomorrow :(
The hat sellers were doing a roaring trade and I even saw a couple of people using umbrellas as parasols, which I'm thinking of doing on my walking commute when the heat really ramps up.
