Yeah. I paid for Sync Pro and I'd gladly pay again (even though I've pretty much settled for Kbin), but I was expecting something like β¬4.99 not β¬21.99. Call me cheap but I'm not doing that.
Thanks, I saw it in another thread and installed it earlier. I'm mostly using Thunder because earlier it was the only client with haptic feedback, but it's a bit rough around the edges. I used to use Infinity for Reddit before.
I don't mind paying more since Lemmy is a smaller market but I'll wait for a sale I think.
exactly. I think the dev is banking on all the craziness for an app, why not charge more for the early birds. Strike while the fire is hot. Good for him, but yea, I'll wait. Lemmy itself isn't that full grown yet to warrant it either.
Man is it wild to see the change of heart people have had. From all out support of LJ and sync saying they'll pay w.e is needed to now actually needing to pay what is needed and shitting on it.
LJ is a one man shop and he pounded this out over the course of what? A month? Dude has every right to charge what he feels is right for the software.
Honestly at this point there's no guarantee that lemmy is going to stick around very long, we're already seeing big communities shut down and splinter. I say strike while the iron is hot and get yours.
I'll admit I was a little shocked when I saw the pricing, and I will probably need to wait a week or two until I'm on a non-mortgage-paycheck to buy it, but I plan on grabbing pro to support him.
I used Sync for reddit for close to 10 years for like $5 I can afford to give back a bit.
Edit to add another thought: Sync is probably my most used app ever on my phone. I pay $15 or whatever per month for various streaming services, Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max etc.. and I probably spend more time on Sync than any of those.
I've paid $50-60 for games I've put less than 20 hours into playing.
I imagine the dev hasn't implemented subscription migration yet. Just cancel your subscription renewal and buy the one time option next year when your subscription ends.
Too expensive for a social app? Yeah. But I'll put some money into his development for this year to help bootstrap a new community and evaluate again next year.
