WD Red pro 8tb very hot and loud
WD Red pro 8tb very hot and loud
I just replaced my old WD red 4tb with new WD red pro 8tb (WD8003FFBX) and its getting very hot and loud compared to the old one.
While I was transferring files temperatures got to 50, 51 degrees with a lot of sounds coming out of it. Is this normal?
Let me guess, it's an air drive (you can tell easily as they look totally different , these are regular Red, well called now "Plus" even if there's nothing different, but you get the idea, the air is the one with a hole).

1 0 ReplyPro or not it can still be air filled.

Yeah, 8TB drives in general really need active cooling and they also tend to be on the louder side.
1 0 ReplyI'd say any drive needs that. I left a 3tb running without cooling and it got up to 60c
