A U.S. judge on Thursday rejected a bid by Texas to block federal immigration authorities from destroying razor wire fencing that the state placed along the border with Mexico to deter illegal border crossings.
The federal government should charge Texas for the costs to remove the unauthorized barriers. The fact that the rest of us are paying for their idiocy is appalling.
U.S. District Judge Alia Moses in Del Rio, Texas, in a written order, criticized the Biden administration for its "utter failure" to prevent unlawful entry into the United States, but said Texas was unlikely to prevail on its claims that a federal policy of removing the fencing was illegal.
God Republican judges have universally become such clowns. "Fine. I'll enforce the law and Constitution if I have no other choice but I'm still going to include false far-right talking points in my order!"
For anyone that cares about the truth, 2022 saw a record number of apprehensions at the border (you know, people being prevented unlawful entry) and 2023 has seen even more.
Even if that wasn't true, this particular anti-illegal immigration measure is excessively cruel and deserves to be taken down.
What Republicans never admit to is that illegal immigration is a civil violation, not a criminal violation. Putting them in cages should not be legal. Attempting to cause them bodily harm if they make that civil violation should certainly not be legal.
It doesn't stop people from crossing the border and it costs taxpayer money to build. We have enough wasted taxpayer money in this country. Let's cut out what we can.
I don't understand. Since when can the Feds just waltz onto private property and destroy fencing on it?
The 4th Amendment:
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
The wire was put there by Texas. It's not the property of the land owner.
Texas is pouring on a theatrical production to say the border isn't being controlled by the Biden administration. The Biden administration is removing the props for the theater production.
