Wide pay ranges are great. Here's how to handle it:
Interviewer: and what are your salary requirements?
You: well it really depends on what the whole compensation package looks like. I'd need some rough numbers on what employees pay for healthcare, how much PTO is offered... I noticed the pay scale was between 50k and 150k. If you had to estimate, what was the average increase for a good employee this past year? Did it keep pace with inflation? Are there any bonuses offered?
Given the available information, my salary ask would really have to be at the upper quarter of your given range.
At least here in Washington, the mid point is generally a good area to shoot for. Few companies give a ridiculous range because they can be reported to the state.
Regardless, I still like that it is required to be posted here. Although I recall interviewing at one company that used the fact that they advertised their salary range as proof of how open they are to progress. Congratulations to them for not wanting to be fined. 🙄
