Most animals in captivity live a very short and very miserable life till or while they are harvested and then discarded. That is not something that is currently being done to humans in a nearly as bad way.
- Does that include zoos (with modern standards)?

  Are the modern standards, that they just educate without imprisoning animals? If not, then no.

Even if animals in captivity did live longer (which @WallEx@feddit.de contradicts), wouldn't it make more sense to think it's because of better treatment and healthcare?
- To be fair, he's not contradicting the intended statement. "Animals in captivity" usually refers to zoos/aquariums/etc in this context.
  
  They are just pointing out that animals raised for food are also "animals in captivity," and have dramatically reduced lifespans.
  
  Farm animals are not animals in captivity.
  
  Captivity implies being captured and being held captured.
  
  It is about wild animals that do live longer in a control environment albeit loosing their freedom.
  
  Animal farming is a different animal
