Most animals in captivity live a very short and very miserable life till or while they are harvested and then discarded. That is not something that is currently being done to humans in a nearly as bad way.
64 10 ReplyDoes that include zoos (with modern standards)?
15 0 ReplyNo, this is just reactionaries hating zoos without really thinking about what the good ones accomplish
8 3 ReplyAre the modern standards, that they just educate without imprisoning animals? If not, then no.

Wow, that must mean that we're in captivity! /s
Even if animals in captivity did live longer (which @WallEx@feddit.de contradicts), wouldn't it make more sense to think it's because of better treatment and healthcare?
22 0 ReplyTo be fair, he's not contradicting the intended statement. "Animals in captivity" usually refers to zoos/aquariums/etc in this context.
They are just pointing out that animals raised for food are also "animals in captivity," and have dramatically reduced lifespans.
9 0 ReplyFarm animals are not animals in captivity.
Captivity implies being captured and being held captured.
It is about wild animals that do live longer in a control environment albeit loosing their freedom.
Animal farming is a different animal
