I'm not touching that game until they go and take the cowboy out of the game. We're not fools Blizzard, that rename was just a cheap way to put things under the rug and we know already who's that guy based on
But like...the real guy isn't a cowboy. They renamed him. You'd remove an entire character from the game? Renaming him seems like the appropriate response.
I agree removing the character entirely seems too far. The characters are designed differently enough that you would be leaving a reasonable number of people without their favorite playstyle entirely without a suitable replacement.
I get people not being able to look past the history, but I'm not sure there's any more reasonable course of action that can be taken. The name was the homage, not the kit, art, or lines. And now that name is gone.
I think those who are still upset about it would have to accept they fall under "Don't like? Don't engage" rather than calling for further action.
@mike591 There are plenty of people who say they download it only so, they can give a bad rating / downvote. Sadly those review bombs by the toxic community have drastic effect on the overall rating of the game. Mind you, I have nothing against people expressing their opinion, especially if they give reason. But I question these rating results. It's not reflective of the quality of the game in my opinion, but somewhat understandable given what changes they made and the surrounding drama(s).
I personally didn't play Overwatch in 5 years since the first game and to me this still feels like the same game, but with all the updates in between. I don't like the Free to play model and the prices. I don't like they allow people to play only with a phone number (actually the phone number was the reason why I didn't play OW2 until yet).
But there is not much alternative, other than Paladins and Team Fortress 2. And I really, really liked Overwatch 1! To me it's one of the best games of it's decade. Currently getting into it with a complete new account and enjoying the game. This is an excellent example when to ignore the review rating, but to pay attention to what people criticize. And why it is important that people can do it (looking at you Epic).
