This feels ripped out of the playbook of scummy mobile ads or adult sites where trying to click the x leads you to the exact content your were trying to avoid
X actually goes away if nobody clicks on it.
- I can think of a better way to make X go away.
Happens all the time for me. It's such a stupid design decision to put it up there (or maybe it's on purpose?)
- Why are you still on that platform though? I am asking genuinely.
  
  This is the new embedded Twitter post on News sites, not on Twitter directly. That's why I clicked the X, wanting it to go away but I ended up on X and gave Elon a click
  
  a lot of my friends are still on twitter and the community we have is quite nice and supportive.
- Of course it's on purpose - everything narcissists do, they do to force you to interact with them. Because ignoring them is exactly what they hate.
