I got a few Chinese clones off amazon and my dog just looks at me like I'm an idiot. He's been training me for 7 years to read his mind and know what we wants, why push a button?

I've never seen a study on those buttons, and dogs do understand language talked to them, but I'm guessing that they don't have any idea what they're actually "saying" with those buttons.
Humans and dogs co-evolved. Dogs have simple needs. It's not difficult to know exactly what your dog wants without a button.
