The Democratic Party had one last chance to implement the kind of New Deal Reforms that could save us from another Trump presidency and Christian fascism. It failed.
It feels some kind of way knowing i've been reading guys like Hedges my entire adult life, people who knew exactly what was coming and how, people screaming from the rooftops, and yet here we are.
The historical prophets went often unheeded in their own times. Our society is no different.

hedges clearly suffers from PTSD from his war reporting in the balkans in the 1990s. PTSD makes you catastrophize everything. you can see how he constantly does that with politics.
i still mostly enjoy his work but it's worth recognizing that he is somewhat hysterical usually.
also he argued with anarchists over political violence and property destruction, which was very annoying.
Is it really a failure when you never intended to try though?
was correct when he said that Bernie was the only off-ramp from the road to barbarism.it'll take even harder if he manages to win a 2nd term.
