I know this is an Oregon community, but it's good to see some California central valley representation. Good to see we can still compete for our rightful place at the bottom of the barrel.
"The following truck stops pose a risk for drivers and their loads; therefore, L Brands Asset Protection requests that truck drivers DO NOT STOP at these locations"
The Love's and Flying J mentioned in central CA are both skeezy as fuck while also being FULL of people constantly
Went inside for less than 5 minutes one time and came back to someone trying to steal shit from the back of my work truck. What shit? The entire 4 chamber fuel tank setup.
Nearly all of these are on my personal "fuck no" list of trucks stops for one or more of the following reasons:
sketchy as fuck. Full of bums, prostitutes and/or people trying to sell stolen goods
just generally shitty. Poorly maintained, dirty, shitty staff and facilities
utterly fucking packed at all hours, you're not going to find a parking spot and it's going to be a nightmare to get in and out.
The two in Iowa are surprising.
First because that doesn't seem like a sketchy area at all, and second because there is no Loves there. There's a pilot and a Sapp Bros there. Nearest Loves is 33 miles away.
Also the Denver Pilot at 276A no longer exists.
“Get plugged into the supply chain security industry, because the theft of loads of avocados is just the tip of the iceberg,” Ramon said. “If [Sandoval] were to harden her supply chain against that particular method of theft, the cargo thieves are just going to target her with the next step in the sophistication ladder, so to speak. There are a dozen different modus operandi with varying sophistication levels between the one that she experienced and the ones that we’re dealing with right now in places like California and Kentucky.”
That poses an interesting question. They could go all out and spend tens of thousands on security. But at what point does the math not add up, and they are spending more per year than their losses are on average? At that point, should they just let it happen?
the occasional load of explosive avocados would slow them down.. i don't know how expensive it is to disguise explosives as avocados, but the important thing is to get the word out there among the avocado jackers.. this forces them to add security measures in response.. avocado scanners aren't cheap..
No West Memphis? This is an incomplete list. I literally watched a guy get stabbed and have his truck stolen in the fuel aisle in broad daylight at the Hook in West Memphis.
I knew St Louis was going to be on this list 100%. Can confirm, what a shit hole that place has turned into. I never felt so unsafe to get out of my car to pump gas. When you have to have a police officer stand by the door of a freakin' gas station, you know you should have waited for the next stop.
I'm not disputing anything but Ontario CA. Ontario is the middle of the inland empire, right by the airport. If you're getting robbed there, and nowhere else in the country with orders of magnitude lower populations, less lighting, and no security cameras, my brothers in Christ you are the problem.
