The Jesus and Mary Chain cover!
Thanks to @uselessmoderngod for reminding me of this.
@perishthethought My first real exposure to The Pixies (my first technically would've been "Wave of Mutilation" on the Pump Up the Volume soundtrack). Also my first exposure to anything dealing with The Jesus and Mary Chain.
Not that you asked, :) but my first Pixies exposure was a used cassette I found in my local record shop, around 1987 or 1988. I bought it to check them out, since I'd read their name in a couple of magazines by then and hated them at first. Black Francis' voice was so grating, I thought. Somehow, I heard something worth sticking with though so I gave Doolittle a couple more tries. Long story short, I've loved them ever since. Jumping to now, I'm not a huge fan of the recent post-Kim Deal music, but they're still in my top 5 bands overall.
I'm glad to see there are still a few folks who still like them.
@perishthethought I love The Pixies and am passing down that love to at least one of my kids (my 11-year old doesn't like my music, but my 5-year old does). I didn't get exposed to alternative music until 1990 when I got this cassette and started watching 120 Minutes on MTV probably a year later (basically post-Nirvana)
Wow, cool. That compilation is crazy - sonic youth and modern english on the same album is cool. I remember watching 120 minutes a lot back in the day.
