Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo said on Saturday Russian and Belarusian athletes "were not welcome" at the Olympics being staged in the French capital this year.
I mean, I appreciate the fact that I'm getting down voted because it means we've moderated this community well enough that nobody thinks this is serious. I take this as a positive.
You are aware they started that narrative for two reasons: 1) To distract from the fact they were radicalizing nazis in the area and 2) to drum up justification for a war with china. The only reason it's still around despite the MOUNTAINS of evidence proving it wrong is because Americans are so fucking racist that they don't even care that it's blatantly bullshit because it gives them moral carte blanche to hate china.
Let's say we have a basket of apples. The world's most powerful apples. And they all look rotten and diseased, we know the reasons which make them rotten, it's peer reviewed and considered a fact.
So then we make a leap of faith. What if despite evvvvvvveeeerrrything, this one apple is actually pure and holy. And only a few know this for sure and they're not letting anyone else know the proof.
That's very wonderful but, kinda sketchy at the same time?
The general population doesn't know what's happening, and it doesn't even know that it doesn't know. — Noam Chomsky
Most people don’t know they’re being propagandized in the first place, so it doesn’t occur to them to see past it. And of those who do notice, most don’t have the time, energy, skill set, and inclination to dig out the truth. It’s not impossible, but it is a lot of work. The information is accessible, but corporate media generally aren’t going to provide it.
It's not a metaphor relating to those. You can substitute the apple for anything you like, the fruit is not a relevant object. It just carries similar properties. They can be called 'Notexistilandia', 'United Territories of Nowhereon' or 'Countrystan'. Whatever helps.
You're very close with Chomsky and people not knowing!
What I mean is that the mystical prophecies of one true holy and pure — despite the evidence, like we've discussed, rely much on faith, instead of (and sometimes contrary) to knowledge. And general populations "knowledge", fooled, propagandized is just that — much closer to faith.
More Chomsky:
I think irrational belief is a dangerous phenomenon, and I try to consciously avoid irrational belief. On the other hand, I certainly recognize that it’s a major phenomenon for people in general, and you can understand why it would be. It does, apparently, provide personal sustenance, but also bonds of association and solidarity and a means for expressing elements of one’s personality that are often very valuable elements. To many people it does that. In my view, there’s nothing wrong with that. My view could be wrong, of course, but my position is that we should not succumb to irrational belief.
Idealistic nationalist supremacy is just a form of religion.
Modded as misinfo, worth to check the modlog... There were no links to any fake news sites nor information commented, just a realization that apparently all reports of even different cases can't possibly have any truth to them.
Trump's lawsuits could be an allegory. There's so many of them and similarly all of them have to be fake I guess. No fire where there's smoke
Really making it obvious here that when liberals say "misinformation" they don't mean "false information" they mean "using sources I don't like". Your post contained misinformation; it's got nothing to do with "links" or "fake news sites"
There’s so many of them and similarly all of them have to be fake I guess. No fire where there’s smoke
This is literally the argument that neonazis make to justify their antisemitism: "the Jews have been accused of so many bad things! Surely they can't all be fake".
Turns out it's actually extremely easy to fire hose bad faith accusations at your enemies.
Then you'd be wrong from the jump; because 'we the people' have always been split down the middle between who owns the plantation and who gets forced to toil; and in 400 years that has not changed.
Count up how many Black folk been killed because some peckerwood piece of shit called the cops over some shit that didn't require a police response. If you don't get how that's a lynching, how Amerika still lynches hella Black folk week-to-week, then I honestly want it to happen to you. We are not on the same side. I despise everything and everyone you stand for; and ache to see it fall apart in your wretched settler hands.
What a disingenuous, patronizing pissant of a plantation overseer you are.
Is this meant to be to some other thread? I don't think anyone mentioned lynchings but yeah they lynch us, we know, I know. If you create a side against there, the side is the black lynching despicable settler overseer side.
Thanks for replying but I would really appreciate if you mentioned the specific topic or the context. I'm having quite some trouble understanding your previous comment without context.
You were referring to something by saying "it". I just want to understand the context. I mean no offence. I apologise if my comments came across in any unintentional way. English isn't my first language.
