We all know the hypocrisies of the pro- Israel stances, I’m not going into specific arguments but it’s just everywhere. Normal people seem to have bought in even quicker than they did with supporting Ukraine. it’s awful. Free Palestine.
Yesterday, I decided to dive in and peek at the media's coverage of the situation in my country.
It's bad, really bad. The libs are openly praising the fascists for calling the left parties antisemitic because they say killing Palestinians is bad, ministry has declared any pro-Palestine (whatever that means) protest illegal. :yea:
Shit sucks bad, but there is a non-negligent amount of resistance, don't forget that the media apparatus isn't organic at all and it shows. I'm trying to make time to go to a meeting for the liberation of Georges Abdallah next week.
I have a coworker who's Jewish and has absolutely terrible political takes, he seems down this week, but I haven't tried asking why because I am not sure how I will react to his shit. I don't think anyone has mentioned what's going on because everyone at work (tech company) lives in their own little world.
I’m Jewish, support for Israel is much less prevalent among us than among other groups (evangelicals for instance). Younger Jews especially find Israel icky. I’ve known a bunch who were involved with SJP and BDS. Most of the world’s Jews also vote with their feet and choose not to live in Israel.
yeah i dont know any poc personally supporting Israel and all the mayos ive explained things to, quickly give tentative support to Palestine. To be fair ive never had a productive conversation with a jewish person who wasnt already a communist, but maybe thats just not in my wheelhouse (i dont do well with people making purely emotional arguments, i just kinda shut down especially when people just start crying or spewing insults) , plus im trying to take a break from talking politics to white people but people keep reaching out to me to ask questions. its exhausting and feels pointless, but ive convinced/ further educated like 4 people this week.

I feel like I've met maybe one Jewish person IRL who wasn't pro Palestinian liberation. Even the Israeli dude I worked with wanted to vote out Netanyahu and work towards two states, which is admittedly liberal but like, a massive improvement over the status quo.
Me too, I've only ever known one Jewish family that was plainly Zionist, all the others (families and individuals) were either not really discussing the issue or fervently pro-Palestine.
