Former CPD Deputy Chief on the ShotSpotter Sales Team Shilling Lies About The Faulty Tech

  • Shotspotter has an insanely high accuracy rate, not because the system is accurate, but because they re-define "false positive."

Say there's a loud noise that triggers the system, they send the police.

Police investigate and find no signs of a shooting. No injuries, no shell casings, no visible damage.

They also find no sign of what may have caused the noise, backfire, lightning, blown transformer, fireworks, etc.

Shotspotter does NOT consider that a false positive UNLESS the cops can explicitly identify the source of the noise.
