After harvest I will mow them down to 5cm, fertilize, and then as runners grow I will collect them and start a new patch as this one will have run its courseHow do you measure strawberries in volume? Blend them and then the resulting liquid? Or just roughly the volume of the strawberries in one bucket?

Yes. But mostly the latter.
The neighbourhood rats ate nearly all my strawberries the last two years so this year I transplanted them into hanging baskets. I see lots of berries growing so I am crossing my fingers we get to eat some this year!

Does that fence keep the squirrel out? Perhaps you should also put up a polite sign.
