Is there like any historical context to justify misunderstanding that speaking Mandarin was common in Japan?
I met a Chinese citizen at university, she knew Korean and Japanese,
but not Russian.Maybe when Japan took all of Manchuria, but if you knew any historical context you'd know that the Japanese don't speak Chinese domestically
