GASP - they would NEVER¡ Cara is founded by tech bros and funded by venture capitalists that care about their users, okay? They just want you to be happy, it has nothing to do with money!
Open-source wouldn’t guarantee anything. Non-profit or commercial, someone has to pay for servers and bandwidth. If it’s a free service, either they’ll likely be back where they were with Meta. A paid or self-hosted service is the only way the service can be sustainable.
