  • How does this apply to all of our veterans who experience all of the above because we fought stupid oil wars? And, I really want to stress I'm not saying that to diminish anyone's struggles. I'm saying it because since 2001 the conservatives have had a veteran fetish. I have experienced all three of those issues because I am a wartime veteran with PTSD who was given no support when I separated. Obama and Biden are the two presidents who actually shifted the overall tone for the VA enough that I've been able to get help.

Fuck man. I've already been having a small mental crisis because my chosen career path after university has been obliterated by Trump before I've even earned my BS. It's like every time I stand on my own I get pushed down again

  • I just moved into an apartment and have one squeaky door. It's already driving me nuts, I can't wait until I can fetch lubricant from my house. But, my downstairs neighbor has a ton of squeaky hinges and... Okay, honestly, that was the second sign that he is hard of hearing lol

  • Anti-trans bills are failing in places like Montana, because our trans legislators are real people (not made-up perverts) who are able to articulate how these bills affect them, as real people, to their colleages on both sides of the aisle.

Zooey Zephyr made such an incredible case last year when she talked about the impact on parents rights if she was no longer able to walk her child to school. Because, yes, she's a transgender woman, but she's a loving parent who is deeply involved in her child's life. In fact, she had introduced her child to her colleages during certain work events. So every one of those asshats who drove that bill forward understood they would be hurting more than the "buzz word" out-group if they voted for it.

Sometimes I wish I lived in her district just so I could vote for her, because nothing makes these Montana red hats madder than realizing they might lose freedoms and she capitalized so perfectly on that.

Sorry, little bit of ramble lol. I think I'm just having a good day and want to have some kind of hope despite the impenetrable dark clouds hanging over us

  • I was agreeing with you that it's silly to correct someone calling it a tree outside of specific contexts, just like arguing a tomato isn't a vegetable.

For what it's worth, I have had to learn the growth habits of plants in ecology classes for a degree that I am currently earning. I have plant identification books that use those terms, because they do have a technical use.

  • It's considered an herb because the vegetation dies back after fruiting, instead of remaining persistent. If you really want to get technical it's a forb, which is an herb that isn't grass-like. But yeah, it's literally just a description of its growth habit. I don't think I've ever heard someone casually calling a Wisteria a "liana" , for example, because it's not really a helpful term outside of certain botanical contexts

  • My view is that there are shades of gray between kissing family and kissing with the intent to have sex. To me there is distinction between a kiss shared during a date and one that is shared as you're stumbling towards a bed with a partner. One is an "I love you" kiss (romantic) and the other is "let's fuck now" (sexual).

  • I'm ace. Kissing and some cuddling makes me very uncomfortable, because it often leads to sex. There have been times that I thought I was sharing a sweet kiss with someone and suddenly they're trying to slide hands under my clothes. So in my mind that was a romantic kiss, but to the other person it was sexual. This is why it's so important for people like me to fully discuss things before we start dating someone.

There are different types of ace, you'll see some aces say they are sex-favorable. That means they don't feel sexually attracted to anyone, but they will engage in sex. On the opposite side of the spectrum is sex-repulsed. That's me, I feel absolutely disgusted by sex.

  • Neat! I tried to identify a few mosses in a flora class, but my professor said it would be too difficult. By the end of the semester none of the Bryophytes I brought in were identified

  • It's possible to train your dog to stay when you drop the leash. It's not something I've done explicitly yet, but I'm working up to it since I've lost feeling in my hands (probably like those old ladies).

But also, what do those old ladies expect to do with their dogs when the dogs are too old or sick to walk on their own? I got my dog shortly before my worst symptoms manifested and still tried to plan for what I will be able to lift when those come to pass. And thank fuck I did, because she tore her ccl last winter and if I couldn't lift her into my car idk if she'd even have healed properly
