Food Service Robots Just Need the Right Ingredients

  • A task it couldn't have seen in the training data, I mean.

You don’t even have access to the “thinking” side of the LLM.

Obviously, that goes for the natural intelligences too, so it's not really a fair thing to require.

  • My wild guess on how they do that industrially is macerated pulp in water and a big nasty press to squeeze the water back out. Maybe some really cheap adhesive goes in there too, I don't know.

For arbitrary molding, you need a certain level of fluidity that will be hard to achieve with a fairly pure pulp. You'll notice all those packaging materials - or at least the ones I can think of - are shaped to be suitable for stamping. However, it can be used as reinforcement in concrete or a resin!

  • Why, just because of the pineapple? Every place makes a Hawaiian, people, and there's no gun to their head. Maybe you find it squicky, but it's a completely viable flavour combination.

... Did you just want to share your dope pizza recipe? Lol.

  • SpellGPT is an archdemon, and it's pronounced as written, not as an acronym.

Presumably it has money, sex and power as bait instead of on-demand musical fanfics and light conversation, because fiction isn't that dumb.

  • I think vibe casting would be when you summon an imp for a few minutes with instructions to work on the big spell, summon another imp and tell it to do the same.

Likely to produce a much more literal development hell.

  • Uhh, so I've been on Xfce for a while, and I've never seen this. When did the madness start?

You mean into a GUI shell emulator, right? (I didn't even know there was a clipboard that functions when not in a graphical session, otherwise)

  • Barbed harpoons were the approach with the comet. Putting a band around the whole thing could also work for a small body. If you're going for gold, the asteroid is also going to be paramagnetic if I'm not mistaken, so you can just electromagnet on.

It's slightly more problematic than on Earth, but I'm basically going to need some citations if I'm ever going to believe it's sticking to the chosen landing site that's the hardest part. A lot of proposals sidestep on-site processing, even, and rely on delivering a whole small body to Earth.

  • Why would that be a problem? The drilling platform would have to be tethered to the rock, but that's doable and I'm pretty sure they drill all the time on the ISS. Actually, didn't we drill into a comet or asteroid for samples sometime recently? The explosives would require no modification at all.

  • Foundering means failure or defeat. It's originally a nautical term for sinking IIRC.

Cis gender dysphoria would be what a cis person feels when they get kicked out of their assigned-at-birth gender, like is being described. Cis being the opposite of trans.

If anti-trans activists can't handle gender dysphoria, a major challenge which trans people face, that's ironic.
