CDC guidelines: students with lice no longer need to be sent home early
  • Not disagreeing that a school has it's challenges, just saying it's easier than planes to mitigate infection risk. You can open windows in classrooms to have airflow, you don't have to stay in one place for 21hrs etc. Even the worst schools are not as cramped as a plane is.

What you're identifying too is how underfunded schools are. If you reduced classroom sizes, spent more class time outside, added filters to indoor areas, had more cleaning staff for cafeterias and toilets etc you could reduce risk from multiple angles. However that costs money and no governments are ever going to invest in schools again.

Plus stuff like supplying every student and staff with n95 masks, rapid antigen tests to do each day, etc

  • My understanding is the planes filtration actually does a surprisingly good job of reducing infection spread through the cabin. It's the people nearby to you or the toilets etc, who you often get sick from. But the combination of being packed closely, having no external ventilation and the long time periods that make it worse. Stuff which you could partially mitigate in a school with some effort and money (so no won't do it).

  • lol, why are gamers so anal about iron sights
  • I haven't played a lot of recent FPS titles so I don't know if this has become more prevalent, but I really liked the Rainbow Six Vegas thing of being in first person but then 3rd person when in cover. It lets you see your customized character a lot more. GTA Online had this as an option in the settings as well. I would play FPS but 3rd person in cars and cover.

Also the Army of Two games had 3 things I've not really seen in other third person games that I'd love in a single game (for some reason they kept taking these features out). The first game had a system where if you pressed fire when an enemy was right in front of you, you did a melee move instead, it was a lot more fluid than trying to remember what the melee button was. The Second game had a button you hit to switch which hand you held the gun in, so you could look around corners better, hug walls etc. The Third game had a system where if you tapped the reload button twice you drew your pistol instead, which was good if you got caught mid reload by an enemy.

  • Also that extra 3-4 days (if a true statistic)is averaged across the whole population. In fact, it’s more like a bunch of people get no extra time and a handful get years because they aren’t dead from a heart attack (this is a good thing and how population based interventions work).
