Are your studies related to the job you have quite (or planning to quit)?
If not, I think the waiting would be a fair price to get a job in which you are happier in my opinion
Hey! It's my first post, I missed the first one. I found my first IT-related job, and I am really enjoying it.
The thing is that I am almost certain I'll go back to study
This is because I am spending 4h on public transport to arrive at the place (2h go, 2h come back) and it's not the kind of job you can stay in forever. Low salary and almost no possibility to promote.
What do you all think? There are more things to tell, but I want to hear other voices :)
Steam. It is one of the few company's that still has principles
I will eventually do it, and I will blame you for giving me the idea.
Just joking, but you gave me lots of project ideas, thanks!!
I'm almost sure that I won't do it rn, I don't have enough time to do so, but since I'm always researching and trying new things, that is a very good objective to reach.
Many many thanks!!! :D
Lots of thanks for the info!! Hope I don't have to use it tho :)
The thing is my first option was LineageOs, because I use it rn, but the fact that I don't know why it is not official "scares" me

Hello guys, i just inherited a Redmi Note 8 Pro. I've been using LineageOS for a lot of time, and I really like the way I managed to set up everything.
I've been searching and because of the processor (MediaTek) it is hard to install Roms, but I really hate MIUI and Google ecosystem, and I don't want to go back to it.
It is really important for me that the rom doesn't have google services.
Any recomandation? I've seen roms like:
- CrAndroid
- Unofficial LineageOS
- HavocOS
Thanks for everything!!
So it is a joint just to try to compete against Google maps? Makes a lot of sense now you mention it. I'm not planning to switch from OSM though!!
Hey guys, i just seen this thing. Summarising, it is a common database for all Meta, Amazon, Apple and TomTom data collected from places, routes and maps.
In my mind I've seen it as a copy of open street maps but made by big tech. They point out that is Open Source oriented, and they give instructions for API use.
> Always open. The Overture schema and format aim for compatibility with free and open-source tools and technologies and avoid depending on closed-source or proprietary tools and technologies.
I mean, it is a very good idea, but my question is: Why not give all data to OpenStreetMaps, who is currently doing what they are trying? Do you see any downside or possible way to collect data/make profit or something like that?
Remember that almost any company does nothing for the love of art.
What do you all think?
I didn't thought about it. Thanks!!
I use redmi note 7 and it works like a clock, but I've heard that one of the best devices is Google Pixel. Specifically I reccomend Pixel 3, bc you can buy it "cheap" (around 150-200 eur) and it's pretty resistant, fast, has good connectivity and so
Hello guys, thanks for the help and your time before starting.
My problem is this one:
I have Debian 12 installed onto my computer with 4 partitions:
Total disk is 466,6 GiB (~=500 GB)
• "/" Size: 22,7 GiB (42% used)
• "/tmp" Size: 1,8 GiB (6% used)
• "/var" Size: 9,1 GiB (84% used)
• "/home" Size: 433 GiB (12% used)
"/var" is almot full, with a 84% used, and I want to try to decrease that percentage. I've removed logs and all I could remove, but that percentage is still pretty high.
Searching around, I found that apps installed through Flatpack are stored in "/var/lib". This may be my problem? Is there any way to store Flatpack apps on "/home"
Solution -------
Thanks to @furrowsofar@beehaw.org and @heartlessevil@lemmy.one
To solve this I moved "/var/lib/flatpack" to "/home/user/..."
Then I softlinked the folder to its previous place with the next command:
ln -s [source || /home/user/.../flatpak] [Destination || /var/lib/]
I reduced the storage percentage to a 18,5% :D
Edit: corrections
Nice car, what do you think about the engine? I've heard people loving it and hating it
Hey guys, before starting, thanks for everything! My question is simple, what do you think about a car community? Is there enough demand?
People ask me why I use Firefox when other products hace better features. This is the reason. This is the only feature I want: A fundation that helps and understands the user Thanks for all Mozilla.
I use it too and its beautiful!!
Edit: grammar correction
Hi guys, I am trying to get a new code editor for my projects. Browsing around I found that atom (which is one that i've always wanted to use) is still "alive" thanks to Pulsar project. What do you all think?
I use Native Alpha to avoid apps on mobile
Edit: misspelling
Hi! I am new to the programming world, and everything involved. What do you think about gitlab? Many people are using it instead Github. Also I heard about Codeberg, but I dont know anything about it :)
