The community I miss most from reddit. Nice! Thank you.

Your skin is constantly shedding. The dust you can find In a house is mostly dead skin. Applying sunscreen could make it stick instead of fall off. If it's dry it could also be dust and sand in the air.
Try scrubbing before going sunbathing to see if it still happens then.
Not for your use case. Only for their own streaming service. I've never been served an ad. And I've been using it for over a decade.
Well that would do it. Thanks for pointing out!
It thankfully seems to have been fixed thanks to @graycube@lemmy.world. Running analyze verbose;
in postgres.
The pgautoupgrade was added for the new version because this deployment is an all-in-one solution for running lemmy. And upgrading the databases turned out to be quite the effort until some user pointed the maintainer towards pgautoupgrade here.
I tried running lemmy before I found out about this, but this just makes it so much more convenient to run.
Thanks. I ran it. Hopefully it'll make a difference.
Edit: It looks like this did the trick. I'll keep monitoring to see if it sticks. Thanks again!
I think so. I have lemmy and everything needed running through a single docker container using Lemmy-Easy-Deploy.
I added pg_stat_statements, and ran it. This was the result:
# SELECT count(*) FROM pg_stat_activity;
count
-------
11
(1 row)
ERROR: extension "pg_stats_statements" is not available
Even though it's added in the customPostgresql.conf
shared_preload_libraries = 'auto_explain,pg_stat_statements'
ERROR: extension "pg_stats_statements" is not available
Even though it's added in the customPostgresql.conf
shared_preload_libraries = 'auto_explain,pg_stat_statements'
I have. And I tried to tweak it with no avail. But it was working within acceptable levels before the update.
I have. It’s running postgres
I have. It's running postgres v16.3
EDIT: It seems to have been fixed thanks to @graycube@lemmy.world. Running analyze verbose;
in postgres.
After updating to 0.19.5 from 0.19.3 my postgres is often using up 500%+ of CPU according to docker stats and often going to 100% CPU on most cores according to htop. Also noticed in the uptime monitor: !
htop shows one of the 5 postgres processes constantly on UPDATE. I think this might be part of the problem.
I'm not comfortable with postgres and am honestly completely in the dark how or where to mitigate or even pinpoint this issue.
Any help would be appreciated.
We updated to 0.19.5. This was not as smooth as I had hoped, and due to that the page was offline for almost a day while I had to troubleshoot and figure out what went wrong.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused. But as far as I know, we are fully operational.
If there are any other problems, please let me know by sending me a private message, or putting it in the comments under here.
Thanks for your patience.
That's a name I hadn't heard in ages! I used to be completely enthralled by Szamár Madár by them! Thanks for the rediscovery!
Obvious bait is obvious. But sbc gaming is really awesome, just not the subject in this context.
If it runs fine on an SD card, it also runs fine on a HDD. You don't need to compare it to an SSD.
I can imagine it's not the best without a mouse. But for Roller Coaster you could also use the android build of OpenRCT2. It might work a little better.
The thing with win9x on dosbox pure is that it makes a hard drive image running the os. Then you have to mount the image of the game to install it. This means you probably have to make a different image with the os and the game installed auto running during startup for every seperate game.
I don't think there's an easy and disk space efficient way to do this unfortunately.
As for installing windows 98, you have to create a hard disk image with imgmake first. Then you have to mount the boot disk as floppy, and the windows cd as cd rom drive. Only then can you install windows 98. You don't need a boot floppy only if you have the OEM Full edition.
Happy 25th anniversary to the final version of Street Fighter III!
This game perfected the 2D tournament fighter genre, after first getting the crown with Street Fighter II. The advanced combo system and gameplay, smooth and detailed 2D sprite animation, and player roster size made this a fan favorite of the series.

"Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike - Fight for the Future"|ストリートファイターIII サードストライク ファイト・フォー・ザ・フューチャー is a 2D fighting game developed and published by Capcom, originally released in 1999 for the arcades and in 2000 for the Dreamcast. Happy 40th anniversary to the first game in the King's Quest series, one of the first graphical adventure games, and where Sierra really made their name.
This game also kicked off the Adventure Game Interpreter (AGI) engine, which Sierra used for many games. Wikipedia says: They employed it in 14 of their games between 1984 and 1989, before replacing it with a more sophisticated engine, Sierra's Creative Interpreter. There's no Wikipedia article for the SCI engine, but I know it was used in Phantasmagoria and Shivers, here is the ScummVM wiki page for SCI instead.
Wikipedia Synopsis
King's Quest: Quest for the Crown is an adventure game developed by Sierra On-Line and published originally for the IBM PCjr in 1984 and later for several other systems between 1984 and 1989. The game was originally titled King's Quest; the subtitle was added to the games box art in the 1987 re-release, but did not appear in the game.
It is the first official part of the long King's Quest series (not counting 1980's Wizard and the Princess), in which a young knight, Sir Graham, must save the Kingdom of Daventry to become the king. Designed by Roberta Williams, the game was revolutionary and highly influential in the evolution of the graphic adventure game genre by introducing more detailed graphics and animation.
An official remake titled King's Quest I: Quest for the Crown was released in 1990. An unofficial remake was released by Tierra Entertainment in 2001.

I'm happy to announce the new addition to our admin team: @Die4Ever@retrolemmy.com
He's mostly known as the owner of mods4ever and all associated projects. Including, but not limited to randomizers for games like Duke Nukem 3D and Unreal, working on Scummvm's Groovie engine, and their lemmy page housing communities for said randomizers and on there you can find your main stop for the "The 7th Guest" game series: !stauf_mansion@lemmy.mods4ever.com.
He also used to speedrun The 7th Guest.
If you have any questions, you can message him or me directly on here or leave a comment.
Welcome to the team!

I've started replaying this recently, and it still hold up.
Only downside is that it's a bit slow. But with some snacks and drinks this is a great time killer!
Yippee!
After a user created half a dozen accounts in a span of 24 hours to "battle" a ban on a lemmy.world community, I'm regretting to inform that I have added an application questionnaire to the account creation process.
I want this instance to be a inviting and hassle-free home for any enthousiast of the retro kind. And unfortunately this means it's a little less accessible, and might take a bit before your account can be in use.
I will get to your application in due time, and will check regularly every day.
I hope this will catch trolls and obvious abusers more easily before they become a pain in the ass of the mods of communities.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
If you have any questions or complaints feel free to reply to this post or send me a message.

Tl;dw: he backported dotnet v2 to windows 95, adding the possibility to port software and games to Win95.
Visual studio still has the option to export to dotnet v2 in the current version.

Very fun to watch people fumble through the puzzles for the first time and chat with them, just be careful with backseating. Make sure you assign yourself the roles to get notifications for Stream Detective, ask in there if you need help.
