  • The reason is years and years ago the EPA formula set some goals based on speculation that future technology would keep up pace. And we can't achieve those goals. But car manufacturers can increase the footprint of their vehicles to move the goal post.

  • Yes. Basically someone made a formula years and years ago about what they believed new cars mpg would be based on very generous speculations. And it's never been adjusted. The formula is based on the a bunch of variables but ends up boiling down to altering the footprint.

  • I would kill to just have a simple app to play dominoes on my phone with no ads and no BS. I almost found one. It didn't have ads between games, but it did have a stupid micro transaction scheme or online play or something. Grumble. Grumble.

  • There used to be an entire subreddit that basically did this. There were hundreds of fake users each posting and commenting. No real users were allowed to post or comment. I loved it because they would sort of mirror what was currently on the front page but in much more ridiculous way.

Edit: It was called subreddit simulator. And the creator said it used Markov chains. So no need to use bad prompted LLMs. Just do it the "old fashioned" chatbot way.

  • It doesn't help the fact that there was a meme where someone photoshopped his face to be slightly smaller. Then as it became popular and he started appearing in news more, a whole group of people became dedicated to altering every photo of him. It's possible that those images ended up in the top results of google.

  • Maybe the people on your Facebook are also AI/bots. It's just one big circle of bots posted altered photos and responding to them.

  • A cruel irony
  • Oh shit. I forgot to take my pill. Thanks for reminding me.
