Now I'm curious about what the LIs' and MC's storylines in regard to theatre are. And I can indeed tell you that performing arts, while fun, can become very competitive and full of stressful comparisons of yourself to others (or an ideal you who practices more and has more "grit" and determination), because in the end that is what happens when people audition. Each auditionee gets evaluated on if they fit any part in the show, and if multiple people fit multiple parts they get compared to others, especially on if they have the skills to pull off what it takes. This causes lots of drama and angst in real life, and I'm wondering if the game's storylines match on to the patterns that I know exist in real life.
I loved taking personality quizzes and "what do the [intellectual property] characters think of you" quizzes as a tweenager and it turns out they are still fun to take as an adult! I also started filling out surveys for academic studies on r/samplesize as I got older, and I think my enjoyment of that comes from the same place that makes me enjoy these types of quizzes.
I got Jumin Han from Mystic Messenger, which tracks because he's the one I pursued in that game. I feel the quiz pegged what I'm looking for, what I'd be like, etc. in a relationship pretty well.

So a skill issue on his part, literally. Yeah, I have not really seen that in otome.
everyone practices a 15 minute mini-play about an aspiring singer and a tapir that wants to eat this dream of becoming a performer.
That's definitely a wild plot. Is this tapir a dream-eater, or is it specifically about destroying that one singer's dream?
Best wishes with the rhythm game!
The art looks very nice in my opinion! The plot seems interesting. Definitely keeping my eye on these.
On one hand I did often see toxicity downvoted on Reddit, and the very few times I saw spam it was correctly heavily downvoted.
I also often saw subs with "be civil!" as a rule frequently let comments that made good points but just had to throw in an unnecessary insult at the end, even when the person they replied to did not bring any kind of aggression at all. Or comments that were nothing but an insult, as long as the person they were insulting expressed an unpopular opinion. And I often saw unpopular opinions, expressed politely; that weren't "well it's just my opinion of course, you are free to disagree :) but I think it would be best for everyone if the Jews were all gassed," that were not obviously hateful opinions expressed in polite wording but that actually added to the discussion, get downvoted. I often hold majority opinions online so I am not usually the victim of this, but man did it feel bad seeing a reasonable, friendly person who maybe wasn't as anticorporate as everyone else or as informed about things get punished and shown disapproval in a way that should have been reserved for comments of "fucking idiot :)". Which actually received upvotes for being said to someone expressing a non-hateful opinion politely and reasonably.
I also see all that unkind behavior on Lemmy, though less often. Poke your head in enough "bad news" posts, especially "company does anticonsumer move" posts on !gaming@lemmy.world and you'll probably see some of what I am talking about. I have since learned to either just read the title, or click to the news article and avoid the comments like the plague if I do not want to be upset by "amazing explanation of a point you agree with followed by mean words to someone who wasn't being offensive," or "people online fighting again" or "comment whose only content is insults gets upvoted"
That's so interesting: an event map would draw me in! I like graphs and seeing what I did and did not complete. But knowing FOMO affects you negatively and dropping it because of that is totally valid.
Feel free to let me know if this is inappropriate, since I literally just copy/pasted it off the comment I put on the weekly what are you playing post in !otomegames@ani.social.
Went and played the Saintess of the Golden Bow demo. Haven't explored different options yet, just one playthrough.
- MC is definitely her own person, and I like how she has realistic reactions to her situation but also still refuses to just give in—she pushes herself to make sure she's taking action to get out of the situation. Has her own hangups about love which bodes very well for my drama appetite.
- Game is very pretty. Also torments me with the fact that out of all the dateable characters, I only like Noah's sprite; for literally every other character I like their sprite including MC's abusive dad. Just off looks he looks better than the LIs 😳 I like the personalities of all the guys though.
- +1 for quality of life features. I got times in the game where it's clear I can make a choice to ask for exposition, but I'm pretty sure I could also not without being penalized. I also got the game explicitly telling me about the fact that the next choice I made would lock me on one guy's route. Yay for having this information upfront for replays!
- I feel right at the beginning I was fed lots of different situations with romantic drama lurking and I am living for it.

Do not think the novel has Jim and the fired mage hook up to start a business, cute addition.
Does not feel too satisfying but that is probably my fault for reading the finished web novel ahead of the manga completion, wonder if epilogue chapter will help.
Thanks for posting this!
I admit I have been holding back some interesting questions because I do not know if they'll get engagement, and deleting a thread because it got no engagement and reposting later in hopes people bite feels bad and somehow a bit sneaky and deceptive. I have done that, and have spaced out by weeks or months instead of after a few days so it does not come off like spam, but I still felt bad doing it somehow.
Huh. Took a look. Nice art. Mildly interesting plot. Don't love it, don't hate it.
I wonder what communities people put on ani.social such that there needs to be a rule about communities being related to anime. (Honestly curious!) I agree with the rule, but I'm assuming it had to be instated specifically because someone put something non-anime-related here, as I also figure it is kind of obvious ani.social is for anime communities.
I checked some of your itch reviews and found it very funny that someone complained about the adding phrases midway when I praised it. Different strokes for different folks!
"crystal tears"
did this person read/write fanfiction in 2009 because that sure reminds me of my early fanfiction days lol
I regret not taking up this jam when it was available.
Played this! It is cute and wholesome. Don't try opening History if you play on web browser, you just can't play after exiting the text log because all the UI disappears and you will have to restart.
"H" doesn't work, still stuck. Firefox browser on Mac.
Finished, what an adorable little game. Short, too. I have a lot of long games I'm juggling so it just feels good to have a game I can say I just completed.
The font you used for things outside the text box was cute! I think the pictured information bar with the numbers is the only place it doesn't really work. Those are longer words and a lot of text to read for that quirky font, not nearly as fast to read as the Chop Wood, Study, Fish, and Menu buttons.Your main character art is adorable. But these little guys caught my attention too.
Aww!At first I thought "okay, he's eating only fish? Wouldn't that get boring for him?" (I say, as someone who eats rice daily and loves it, albeit I'm no fish fan so I'm probably not aware of the diversity of his culinary options.) Just now, I realized part of his wizard hat is designed to look like a fish. Oh. Okay. That makes sense.
I liked the little concentration minigame, and just when I thought I'd mastered it and was maybe getting tired of it you added new phrases to find, that I think were added midway through the level, which was a very cool move that resparked my interest and made me not bored with it again. I only wish that when you think you have found everything, you can click to end the level: I spent a bit of time clicking off the game and typing stuff here in this lil review/feedback waiting for the timer to bleed down. Somehow I feel I could hand this game to a 7 year old to try to teach them about decision-making in the face of uncertainty, and about the very very basics of how you are supposed to concentrate to learn on stuff (different and more advanced strategies become necessary with different problems or health conditions). I don't mean that as an insult, it's just a cute friendly game that happens to be child-appropriate and to have at least a mild attempt at good messaging about focus and concentration.
Nice job to the team, and you for programming!
Finally, I should probably recommend posting on !cozygames@lemmy.world
Started playing, it's adorable. (Stat raisers are enjoyable and magic is always a good lure to make me try a game.) Music feels familiar somehow.
History > Return on browser just leaves the game totally unplayable. No more UI.
Might want to crosspost to !Bside@fedia.io too.

Saw someone promoting Lemmy Federate again, something they said in their promotion made me wonder:
