Are you supposed to be able to hear your microphone in your headphones even when no programs are open?
  • I see in the other comments that you have sidetone disabled in the OS. Are you certain you didn't install any software when using the headset? If so, could you try using the headset with another pc or your phone and see if it still happens?

  • Are you supposed to be able to hear your microphone in your headphones even when no programs are open?
  • There're a few things that can cause this. The headphones themselves may have a feature that enables it which you should be able to disable. Otherwise, you may have it configured in your os.

Which headphones and os are you using?

  • Opinion(s) and suggestions about my pcpartpicker setup
  • I'm just repeating what many others have already said, but for this setup you really don't need a liquid cooler. A simple air cooler would more than suffice and would save you like $100-$120. Additionally, it looks like you're paying a premium for an SFX power supply when an ATX power supply would fit. SFX power supplies are super cool in that they can pack so much power in a tiny size. But you wouldn't benefit from that in this case.

After changing the above, perhaps you could then fit a decent GPU into your budget.

  • Tidal’s subscription is getting simpler and cheaper — yes, you read that right
  • Why do you keep mentioning apple music? OP never made any comparison to it or any other streaming service. He just communicated why the service didn't work for him and you felt compelled to inform him that how he feels is his opinion?

  • If we're assuming AI successfully produces what it is asked to produce, simply having the execution of the story done by the AI might be enough to entertain the user. Additionally, they can use it to then entertain others, where those others feel like they're taking a ride on the prompt writers story.

However, I can't imagine such a story having the depth needed to really entertain the same way that a movie would. Additionally, anyone that isn't looking for depth might not be bothered to write a prompt. Unless it's possible to generate hours of video from a single prompt.

  • Report: Apple is testing foldable iPhones, having the same problems as everyone else
  • I've had my fold3 for over 2 years and I absolutely love it. I don't think I can go back to a bar-phone now. Also, even if you really don't like folding phones, why fight creativity? Before this phones were getting so boring and completely lacking innovation. They still are in the non-folding market. Even if you don't like them, choice is never a bad thing.

  • Why are keyboards getting smaller?
  • I love using 65% boards. Main reason being that I get more desk space, more space for my mouse, more ergonomic as my mouse hand doesn't have to be as far to the right (this is particularly better for gaming), it's easier to travel with if the need arises, and I just think they look neat.

  • When playing Jellyfin off an Nvidia Shield TV, is it possible to set a default external video player per TV series?
  • I'm not sure if I'd really call it an "issue". I think it's more of a feature request. Currently on Android TV (Nvidia Shield Pro) you can set the Jellyfin client to ask you which player to use where, when selecting a player to use for some content, it'll ask if you want to always use that player (for all content) or just that one time. It would be nice if there was a 3rd option to set that as the default player for that specific show. I suppose this would have to be a show specific feature as it wouldn't really make sense for movies.

Regarding the issue I see with subtitles with shows like Gintama, I think it's because Gintama has a lot of cultural references that need to be explained to understand what's going on, so there'll be extra yellow subtitles on top to explain those references when they come up in parallel to the normal subs for dialogue. Maybe something to do with this doesn't play well with video players if they have more basic sub support. Or maybe it requires using a different type of subs and JustPlayer doesn't support that as well, idk I haven't checked if this pattern coincides with it being .SRT or .ASS or whatever.

  • When playing Jellyfin off an Nvidia Shield TV, is it possible to set a default external video player per TV series?
  • From my experience, JustPlayer looks best and does the best job at playing DolbyVision/HDR10 content with Dolby TrueHD+Atmos or DTS-HD MA w/ DTS:X. However, sometimes it has issues with subtitles. I haven't yet investigated why, but I think shows that warrant more complicated subtitles (like Gintama) tend to fall into this. Where by complicated I mean that it often has multiple layers of subs simultaneously.

MxPlayer works best with subs and still looks pretty good, but not as good as JustPlayer and it doesn't work as well with all the above mentioned technologies.

  • When playing Jellyfin off an Nvidia Shield TV, is it possible to set a default external video player per TV series?

As the title says, is it possible to set the default video player to use per TV series? I tend to switch between MXPlayer and JustPlayer depending on the content (JustPlayer for most content and MXPlayer for some sub heavy content). However, it's annoying to have to select the player every time I start an episode. Additionally, this makes playing a show on shuffle in the background pretty tedious.

Would it be possible to have it so that show A always just plays using JustPlayer and show B always plays using MXPlayer?

  • I've had my fold 3 for over two years and it's still perfectly fine and I've dropped it quite a bit. I even dropped it hard once on asphalt while biking full speed. Tbh I got lucky with that last one, but still, these phones are plenty durable.
