Weird Knife Wednesday: Cold Steel AD-15
  • Love the review! I agree with you on all points except the opening / closing. I've got an AD-15 Lite and have no issues with one-handed operation. I'm out of town but can post a vid tomorrow when I'm home if you like. A kydex sheath is definitely a good idea for this pocket brick lol

  • Um... Let's take a quick look at the American military's track record real quick... They tend to lose when fighting a decentralized, insurgent force (VC, Taliban) which is exactly what the citizenry of the US would turn into if the government turned on the population. Not to mention, a ton of military personnel would hold the same values of said insurgency, meaning that, at best, some would think twice before attacking, and at worst they'll defect, bringing millions worth of fancy kit to the other side. I don't have a dog in this race (not American) but I think it's ridiculous to underestimate the capabilities of an angry populace.

  • Do you think the word "trauma" is overused?
  • If OP isn't American, school shootings probably aren't something to even consider... My thoughts go towards being treated poorly by educators more than anything. Bullying from other kids can suck, but in my anecdotal experience (outside the US) the lasting and impactful traumas stem from how teachers and staff deal with the kids.

  • As I said, it's also good life advice, they're not mutually exclusive. For most people, those things are going to improve relationship and the likelihood of being in a romantic one. If you are in fact too ugly for someone to be physically attracted to you, you need to make yourself more emotionally and personably attractive. So far, the ugliest part I've seen about you is your attitude, and that's going to have a waaay bigger effect on what people think of you. I'm a straight dude, and judging from this post I wouldn't want to spend time with you in a platonic manner, let alone an intimate one simply because you're coming across like a dick head. It sounds like you're entirely focused on what you can't do, while rejecting any notion that you can improve yourself and your chances. I don't blame women for not wanting any part of that.

  • Why is that? You obviously have already made up your mind on the subject, seeing other answers. Were you simply seeking validation? I don't take problem with that, but don't outright reject the people who are providing genuine responses to your query. Given this is a largely anonymous platform, we have no context on what you actually look like, and you may very well be ugly enough that it has as big of an impact as you indicate it does. The advice being posted is valid for 99.9% of people, but you have to understand that we don't know what you're working with. On top of that, most of what is being said is also just good life advice to follow in general, even if it doesn't get you a partner.

  • Any way to report ads?
  • Unfortunately, you made it a political discussion the moment you complained about the ad being about firearms. There is no civil place to discuss legality of firearms on the internet, and the introduction of the topic tends to bring out the worst in people on all sides of the discussion.

A little more info, there is no registry for long guns, only restricted firearms (handguns and those firearms arbitrarily determined by the government to be restricted). I am all for stronger gun control in Canada, and this ad is disingenuous, but it absolutely is a ban (amnesty granted to the owners of newly prohibited firearms until October 2025), not the registry that people are complaining about. A ban not necessarily grounded in facts or reality, as there is no consistency in what gets banned and what does not. E.g., AR-15s are restricted, while the more compact but functionally similar Tavor is non-restricted.

As a sport shooter/hunter (NOT right leaning), I just want consistency in the laws I need to follow haha

  • The best part of driving a shitbox is that I don't have to care too much about it.
  • I miss my '87 yota... 2WD long box, 5 speed hooked up to a 22r. Hands down the best $400 I ever spent honestly. It was fully painted in bed liner and had two different side mirrors, one of which disappeared while parked at a friend's house over night, and a rusting box patched with spray foam (which always had moss growing out of it, no matter how much I cleaned or cut away). Sad times:

  • Yeah, my GF and I were born in 96 but both in fairly rural areas so our experience aligns more with being millennial. I think it depends a lot on the context of your personal upbringing, but I definitely agree with your sentiment.
