At the 1924 Democratic National Convention, McAdoo received the support of the Ku Klux Klan. He refused to answer questions on if he was a member of the KKK and he did not repudiate the KKK causing the Catholic vote to turn against him. McAdoo defeated Oscar Underwood, who was an opponent of the Ku Klux Klan and Prohibition, in the Georgia primary and split the Alabama delegation.
Former United States Secretary of the Treasury William Gibbs McAdoo, 1920 candidate James Cox and Henry Ford were the main candidates. Though McAdoo won a vast majority of states, and well more than half of the popular vote, in those twelve states that held primary elections, it meant little to his performance nationwide. Once at the convention, the party was deadlocked for 102 straight ballots, before dark horse candidate John W. Davis, (who wasn't even a formal candidate when he arrived at the convention) was chosen on the 103rd ballot. Davis went on to lose the election to the Republican candidate, President Calvin Coolidge.

And yes, there's a 90s Star Trek themed synthpop band and it's surprisingly good.
He looks oddly like Geert Wilders
It would be lowkey hilarious if Kennedy's support spiked based on the fact that he's a decade younger than either of them.
I liked the band until I discovered the drummer is or used to be a libertarian. That's like the least cool thing you can be.
Pentiment was neat.
The game actually is Eastern European. The devs are from Eastern Slovakia.

I don't know, but it has Italy written all over it.
Yeah, some through the Belarus-Poland border, which made Polish nationalists go wild and go full fortress Europe.
Just as expected really. It's like a chud's wet dream come true - finally! an invasion! time to KILL!
Oh hey, my family did this back in early 2010s Italy. The local gold and silver dealership proudly displayed a copy of L. Ron Hubbard's Dianetics near the counter, that was fun.
The funny thing is that the 2% goal isn't even binding. It's been claimed that it is by the media and government, because it aligns with the state's goals, but it's basically militaristic propaganda.
From what I hear from people IRL?
No. Not even because of a belief the west will win. Lots of people seemingly don't care if they die.
Ignoring no smoking signs is actually something I saw locals do fairly often on my trip to Japan

I got offered a two week unpaid trial period. Since I otherwise don't have anything else recent for the CV, I'll take it.
It's 2 PM smh. It's job interview day. No idea how it'll go.
The counter-revolution of 1989/1990, market reforms and associated recession and unemployment, Nazi gangs forming out of poor youths attacking leftists ("baseball bat years"), the Party for Democratic Socialism (SED successor, later known as the Left Party after merging with a left-SPD splinter group) getting into coalition governments with social democrats and supporting neoliberal policies leading to a loss of credibility, pro-Russian foreign policy sympathies that only the AfD openly supports, nationalism being seen as the answer to social problems and, of course, racism.
I think there's a lot of people in a similar situation to mine and yours, probably a lot more than we realize because it's embarrassing to even talk about
2 years for me, though I started an employment program funded by the Employment office recently. I get a basic subsidy of a couple hundred Euros and like 3/4 of the time there is wasted and/or mind-numbingly boring, but it's an income and they're helping me look for a job, write applications, etc. - even if it's just to escape the boredom.
I know you're probably American and the state probably doesn't care much about such stuff, but it might be worth looking into something like it, even if it's just to force yourself to get used to the horrid rhythm of the 40 hour work week and have something recent on your resume that looks good to the bourgies you have to beg for work to.
there's actually a German section thereof - I once met one of them who tried to recruit me in Berlin (in English) lol.
STOP POSTING ABOUT THE ELECTION! I'M TIRED OF SEEING IT! THE GOVERNMENT AND OPPOSITION ON TIKTOK SEND ME PROPAGANDA, IN REAL LIFE IT'S FUCKING PROPAGANDA! I've been having an itch for Disco Elysium recently, but this time I was also wondering: what did other people think of it?
Was there any Youtube or possibly streamed playthrough you enjoyed watching? Did any communist theoryhead play the game for an audience? Any unique points of view?

Armenian separatists in the contested area agreed to disarm and discuss reintegration with Azerbaijan, signaling the end of decades of ethnic-Armenian rule in the enclave.

Who cares about the hardline nationalistic government in Azerbaijan that has unclear and possibly hostile intentions towards the Armenian population?
All that matters is that Putler got owned!
Ethnic Cleansing is only mentioned in the very last sentence of the article.

Yes, it's a counterpart to the anime screenshot thread.
The source is Mysterious Girlfriend X - a manga with a weird and questionable premise, but is pretty decent.

w*ebs, have you read or seen something you thought was interesting/good/so-bad-it's-good recently? I did "what are you reading currently" threads before, but an open recommendation would do as well I think.
Manga:
Angel Densetsu is a manga by Norihiro Yagi and is a hilarious action/comedy about a guy who looks extremely menacing but is actually a nice guy... and accidentally rises through the ranks of local delinquent hierarchies. So what happens if the same author takes his abilities to draw unsettling things, but plays it straight? A good action/horror/mystery manga about a group of warriors with supernatural abilities tasked with hunting demons called Claymore, drawing on an interesting narrative that keeps you invested in reading more. It falls a bit short on having some worldbuilding leading nowhere, which is a shame, but it's a very good manga anyway.
Last Game is a fun shojo romance (with a male MC!) somewhat similar in setup to Kaguya-sama: Love is War - a #1 in everything type of person gets frustrated by always coming second to a classmate he's been around since elementary school, and has tried to beat her in one specific way. Getting her to fall in love with him. I haven't finished it yet, but it's pretty entertaining for a shojo series.
Isekai Samurai is a generic isekai... with a twist. The isekaiee is a 16th century samurai woman. It's only got 10 chapters so far, but the character writing is endearing and the manga is entertaining.
Welcome to Demon-School, Iruma-Kun! takes the SoL aspects of the only book liberals read and mixes it with a suspenseful plot that's not as brainwormed as the inspiration material. It's fun, it's long.
Anime:
Hi-Score Girl is a surprisingly good g*mer focused romcom you will likely enjoy if you like video games of the early 90s, but beware of mediocre 3D CGI animation.
either Anime or Manga:
Ultimate Survivor Kaiji is about an unemployed man with an addictive personality who is in deep debt with local loan sharks and gets the chance to clear it by participating in simple yet high risk gambles. It's an excellent drama series, with shockingly good, arguably outright socialist, politics and an unusual artstyle. It's a long, ongoing manga and like Jojo is divided into several parts.

43 Episode anime from 1999, based on a manga by Tooru Fujisawa. It actually is a sequel to the author's previous work Shonan Junai Gumi!
Known as one of the best anime of all time, I think it's one of the most inconsistent shows around. The good episodes tend to be really good, while the problematic ones are almost unwatchable. The show is particularly bad with ableism and how a disabled-coded character is treated in it. The opening remains nonetheless iconic.
The song is "Driver's High" by the popular Japanese rock band L'Arc-en-Ciel. The album it was on, "Ark" topped the Japanese charts for two weeks in July 1999 and the song itself, released as a single with the B-Side song Cradle reached 2nd place in the singles chart.
It's somewhat amusing to me how songs used in anime can be actually really successful on their own in Japan, such as the Cat's Eye opening song or the opening to Full Metal Alchemist 2003.
