I found a Ublock Origin filter to block Shorts - https://letsblock.it/filters/youtube-shorts Using this means I didn't need to install another extension in Firefox.

I've been using the one on ResetEra. It's not "live" but there are updates multiple times a day - it's currently at 2492 pages. I like the daily status update data and in general the thread is non-hype.
