Backyard structure fix up
  • I live in Washington State. Yeah I don't know if it was like this originally or if the previous owners just stuck the netting on there to stop animals from getting in.

You're right that there isn't really any space between the ceiling and roof. The venting is the main thing I'm concerned about and moisture. I think things are already a bit wet to begin with because of the trees, moss, and pine needles that like piling up. Maybe I'll try to take a closer look behind the sheet rock and see what is going on.

Thanks for the input and recommendation. There are 2 skylights at the eve and a door which you can see in one of the pics. If you think that would make any difference with anything.

    Backyard structure fix up

I have a small barn like structure on the back of my property that I have started fixing up. Previous owners have done stuff to it as well and I came across this part in the loft. As can be seen in the pictures this light shining through into the inside from the soffit/facia, if that's what it would be in this scenario.

What I am wondering is, is it okay to seal that up? From the other side of the structure, it looks like they are mostly boarded up. I want to try to keep the place at a somewhat decent temperature so I would like to seal it up with some foam to keep spiders and bugs out.

Let me know if you need any more info or pictures. Also I do know about the moss on one side of the roof, that side doesn't get much sun and I live in a wet climate and it has like 3 large trees surrounding it.

Light shining through from the next picture. !

where light is shining in from !

A wider angle of the area the light is shining in from !

front of the structure that appears to be sealed off ! !

Leaks confirm low takeup for Windows 11
  • I have tried but have found dual booting frustrating. I need to find a setup that allows me to use it with all my work stuff.

I have been interested in Linux Mint as a starter into Linux. However I think I need a separate computer for work and another for home use. Then on top of that still have dual boot for the few things that don't work on linux. Just feels like a mess.

Overall though I 100% wish I could do Linux.

  • Business Accounting/Taxes
  • Does Firefly allow double entry accounting style? I would definitely try to keep the way I keep track of things in a manner that is easily transferable to an account if things pick up or I need help with something.

  • Business Accounting/Taxes
  • It looks interesting and I like the idea of it being simple human readable text. Though it would be nice to have it built into the same self-host stack I run with everything else. I will check it out more in depth though for sure.

  • I have looked into GNUCash in the past and there is definitely a learning curve so trying to see if there is anything else that may be a little more towards what I want.

It would be nice to be able to access from a browser, it can make things a little easier. Preferably looking for something I can kick up a docker container or something simple so I can easily back up the data if need be and it can fit into my current self hosted stack.

  • Business Accounting/Taxes

I own a small business and am currently using quickbooks, however I don't really make enough to justify the price I am paying for it. I did have a deal for roughly 3 months which made it cheap, however the price has gone up now.

I was wondering if anyone knows of any self hosted applications that support business like tracking. Would something like firefly work for this? I am not really needing budgeting.

edit I got a reply stating the following "Our skylights do not have the downward turned flange, just a flat flange.".

    Skylight Replacement

I had a skylight in a small barn I have on my property which had a branch go through one of the plastic bubble like skylights. I have been trying to find a replacement for it but can't find any that match.

It doesn't need to match the old one but everything I find is flat around the edges or pre-flashed. Anyone happen to know the name of what was previously on there where it has sides on it too?

    Here is a picture of the skylight hole itself. The dimensions are Inner - 21 inch 3/4 x 21 inch 3/4 Outer - 26 inch 1/8 x 26 inch 1/8 ! !

I found this after I posted, so I guess it is called Dome over Frame but can't seem to find any online. !
