Squad, Offworld's tactical FPS should now run better on Linux with EAC issues fixed
  • Squad is an awesome game, and I've played hundreds of hours on Proton. However, unless performance has drastically improved since last December, I would not recommend trying to play it on Steam Deck. I got about 20fps, with regular and significant drops. It is a seriously good game though for those who like a good tactical multiplayer shooter. OWI also makes a Starship Troopers game and Squad 44 (sort of a WW2 version of Squad but different, does not run on Proton due to EAC) so I hope they get the same treatment.

  • The Steam Spring Sale is now in full swing
  • My Deck is for playing single player games when I can't use my desktop, such as when I'm on the train heading to work. I've finished more games since I've had the Deck than the few years before that. Love that thing.

  • What movie had a really good non spoiler marketing campaign?
  • I was going to post this and then I saw your comment. The Handmaiden trailer gives nothing at all away yet somehow commands you to watch the film. A masterpiece in film trailers, also an excellent movie.

  • Ghosts on the Glacier
  • Haunting. Unfortunately I think this is one mystery we will never solve. Mountain climbing tragedies like this are fascinating - the Dyatlov Pass Incident is a particularly good one.

  • Income tax payers in india by percentage, state wise.
  • I'm a little ignorant here so happy to be educated, but are the higher tax paying areas also the ones with the biggest religious minorities? Does the federal or state authority set the tax rate? I find the history/culture/ethnic make-up of India fascinating, very keen to visit one day.

  • DayZ runs extremely well on the Steam Deck for some insane reason
  • I don't own DayZ, have been tempted to buy it plenty of times but never bit the bullet. I used to play the Arma 2 mod when it first exploded which was hella fun but soooo buggy. Anyway, it warmed my heart to read your account of the game's performance and to see how far it has come - even more tempted to get it.

I am also consistently impressed with the Deck and what it manages to achieve across a variety of games. I've been using it docked with a 1080 screen for the last couple of weeks due to travelling, and with some tweaking I am playing all of the games I want to play. Sure, some run better than others, but with some concessions they all run in an acceptable manner.
