  • Not to mention i feel like lab grown meat in particular will have been made possible through animal suffering research.

    I feel like there's a limit to this. How much time has to pass before it's ethical again? After all, many animals were harmed in the research (selective breeding) of modern vegetables too. It's a process that took hundreds to thousands of years and a ton of livestock used as farm equipment to create something like the modern carrot.

    Poking with a modern needle or using a single cattle by comparison is a lot less sacrificial research by comparison, only it's more recent.

    They didn't just vote for the right wing though, they voted for Nazis. So yes, they are literally bigoted, racist, homophobes. If you support people who admired Hitler, guess what? You're a fucking asshole of a very high degree. Being poor or troubled doesn't make you an asshole. My parents grew up in extreme poverty in El Salvador, and they didn't become extreme racists. I was in extreme poverty in university in the USA, I didn't suddenly start voting right wing either, let alone extremely far right. I hated the democrats over there, but knew the right wing wouldn't solve it because bad people don't go good things.

    You don't end up voting for genuinely bad people who admire one of the most atrocious regimes in human history because of frustration. You only do so because you either already have a broken moral compass, or are extremely ignorant and stupid. In Germany though, it's more likely to be the former rather than the latter considering their history. And it's that recent history that makes it that much more shameful for Germany, and that shows that Nazism was still not extinguished.

    You don't deal with an intolerant group like Nazi or AfD by excusing them or reaching out to them. You don't tolerate the intolerant (paradox of tolerance), because otherwise it'll only be a matter of time before you or someone else is no longer tolerated. And that's something history has proven repeatedly.

    Calling people who voted for them stupidity is the extremely charitable label, because malicious and vile would be more accurate in that case.

    Comparing Italy and Germany here just isn't equivalent.

  • I did misunderstand about the association with the caffeine and your headache. But if anything, the new information provided, along with what you mentioned about water, narrows it down further to you potentially having some form of hypotension.

    You very are likely dehydrated btw. Milk and juice are not hydrating - milk is only 88% water, but the sugars and fats included in the milk reduce how much of that water your body absorbs. Likewise many juices have so much sugar that it also lowers how much water to get from it in your gut, and if your blood glucose is already high it hydrates you even less. Speaking of, have you ever done a glucose test at a doctors? Either way, water would be your best option.

    Coffee is a natural diuretic, meaning it dehydrates you faster as well. Dehydration causes hypotension as well (although in rare cases, such as me and my mother, you can experience paradoxical effects, just to keep in mind).

    High blood glucose levels and unstable blood pressure are not commonly obvious medical conditions, which is why they're annoying.

    If you have doubts about your ADHD, speak with your doctor (not a psychologist) about it. You can also do some comparative tests on yourself (when on vacation of some sort) of before and after. Take such a test while on your medication, and then wait 3 weeks (to make sure your body is fully clear of the medication) then do such a test again (not the exact same test though). If there's significant deviation, then you should probably keep taking the medication, but if there isn't, then maybe talk with a doctor about it.

    It's important you don't quit a medication such as Ritalin at once though, so the titration schedule should look something like this:

    Day 1✓ 2× 3✓ 4× 5✓ 6× 7× 8✓ 9× 10× 11✓ 12+ stop

    Disclaimer: I'm not a doctor, just someone with a lot of medical knowledge from self study from medical and pharmacological text books due to my and family members medical conditions. I recommend to a doctor first and foremost, but used to live in the USA, where going as needed is not financially viable for many, even with great insurance.

    Lastly, if you shop around, you might find a good Omron device even cheaper on sale, if you're on a budget. Even they're basic models are well enough, since they are actually medically calibrated on good data sets.

  • Trigeminal nerve pain can be triggered/worsened by an enlarged vein pushing against the nerve at just the right spot. Cannabis causes hypotension via vasodilation, hence the potential trigger.

    The thing is, veins don't grow perfectly parallel, which means hypertension can also cause pain via vasoconstriction, if the vein slightly spirals around the nerve and also constricts; think like a snake wrapped around an arm and squeezing. So it's possible both localized vasodilation and vasoconstriction are causing these headaches, considering the times the headache is worst ("cannabis use or after waking up) and mild but constant (after stimulants like caffeine).

    If your pressure is a bit high during the day, a very small dose of a vasodilator drug taken after your medication would normalize it and that would, hopefully, stop the pain overall. You could still have orthostatic blood pressure issues too, but certain mild exercises can help with those too (assuming there's no other underlying blood flow issues).

    But there's not enough data to say conclusively, hence taking your blood pressure as directed, as well as throughout the day sitting (after sitting at least 3 minutes without moving much) to see if there's any abnormalities with it, as well as the orthopedic pillow. If the pillow helps it also narrows down the cause.

    That said, if it's the trigeminal nerve and you can't control the veins there well through medication... Good luck I suppose. Most surgeons won't want to cauterize because of mild (yet constant) pain. Acupuncture could achieve the same result, but that would be a scary gamble, because there's also potential they hit the nerve wrong with the micro needle and instead worsen the pain. That would be a last result solution, assuming it's the trigeminal nerve causing you issues.

  • I was a pessimist, therefore the results have actually come out pretty good to me. Far right didn't win Belgium, and Left party gained a lot of seats in Finland while right wing parties lost seats. Yeah Germany (eyes them suspiciously) and France turned out very right, but a lot of the other countries stayed about ideologically the same or gained left leaning seats.

    Overall it seems it's balanced enough to keep going with the corporate accountability / public convenience stuff we've been seeing here in the EU, especially related to tech.

    1. you already admitted you don't care for the truth. Therefore, it's not possible to have a civil discussion with you, because you're someone that doesn't accept facts, because you'll always invent some fantasy that's convenient to you for the argument.

    2. People like you are indeed allowed to live in your censored fantasy instance. But there's no rain other instances need to tolerate your fantasy world, let alone allow members into instances that do fairly moderate, accept the truth, and don't try to force their fantasy unto others (which is inherently what happens when one side accepts reality and the other denies it + censors reality).

  • Depends on the state. They can in some states (5: Louisiana, New Mexico, Illinois, Iowa, and Idaho), and in others they can just call a psychiatrist and the psychiatrist will then write it without the patient having to see the psychiatrist, or some other loophole (such as having an advanced psychiatric nurse on staff write the prescriptions for them). And there's a trending push in more states to allow psychologists to prescribe directly. I don't have an issue with psychiatrists giving Adderall, but with psychologists doing it, as I confidently stated for a reason. So yes, you should, quoting you;

    Not only that, but now you're saying a group has the right to pretend that a fact is not a fact, and they did he allowed to have a space where they can push lies without repercussions.

    But even ignoring all that, moderation where you get banned and censored from communities unrelated to the where you post a fact is just acting in bad faith. It's no longer moderation as you state, it's actual censorship.

    Speaking of topics you shouldn't write on that you don't understand, Naloxone is a receptor antagonist and not an analog to opioids. Opioids are agonists. Naloxone binds to the same receptors, but doesn't latch (hence the very short effect duration) or active the receptors. Adderall does - that's literally why it helps. Both Adderall and methamphetamine are agonists on the same receptor sites, and on someone with ADHD that's a good thing, much the same way opioids are for someone hurting, or lithium is for certain mental illness.

    Yes, you take a powerful drug that's basically meth. It's a meth analog. That doesn't change that it's medicine for you, even if it was literal meth rather than a refined analog created to get around dumb drug laws (well, and to improve efficacy for your condition as well in this case). That doesn't change what it is. Ignorant people will always remain ignorant, but downplaying the dangers of something isn't the solution to combating ignorance either. I will call a spade a spade, and in this one it's one that's definitely being overused as well because the reality is the majority see it as "just harmless medicine" rather than what it actually is. If anything, with how recommended it is to take Adderall by most on social media, the issue you brought up to me seems to be in the minority rather than the majority.

    The issue isn't the meth, it's how people view it - whether that be extremely dangerous of its the drug or harmless if it's an analog you get from a pharmacy. The reality is it's in between like all drugs.

    Made this before my mom left back to the states, and had written down the recipe for her.

    Cut onions, shallots, sweet onions, and garlic into small pieces. Call

    Cut sweet paprika into small pieces separately.

    Melt butter in a steel pot on low heat, then add onions, shallots, sweet onions, and garlic to the pot and fry until they sweat. Separate and keep the oil to the side, and put the aromatics back in the pot.

    Lower the heat to low, then add smetana, cream of tartar, dill, and a touch of salt, whisking continuously.

    Turn off the heat, add a touch of coffee cream to sauce, and continue whisking off heat.

    Cut bread loafs and brush them with the oil you set aside earlier, and top them with the cut sweet paprika. Put in an oven preheated to 200°C/390°F and bake until crispy.

    Prepare the Brussels sprouts by removing their outer leaves and cutting their ends. Add sesame oil to a small bowl, then add a few drops of truffle oil and 2-4 drops of orange bitters and mix together. Brush the sprouts with the oil mix. Roast in the oven as well, sprinkling some salt on sprouts after they are ready and out of the oven.

    Heat a decent amount of rapeseed oil in a pan, and fry fish, flipping only once. Fry skin side first well so it crisps up, then only briefly fry the other side after turning the heat off from the oil.

    Plate by adding sauce, and topping it with the fish. Add sauce and bread to the side. You can also garnish the dish with edible flowers.

    Golden Squash Ravioli "Lasagna"

    I don't usually write recipes or amounts but recently I've been doing some experiments so I've loosely written what I did at least, in case my wife wants to recreate the dish with my help when going through chemo.

    Mix crushed garlic and tomatoes with chipotle, paprika, umami, onion, and garlic powders, citrus pepper, mint, and dried basil. Then mix in some apricot puree.

    Cut Golden Squash into discs, leaving skin on.

    Melt butter in an enameled cast iron pan or similar until hot, then fry the discs until browned.

    Lower temperature to medium-low heat, flip discs, then add sauce mix evenly and simmer for a while.

    Make/buy raviolis, preferably a pork with some fresh herb or pine nut filling.

    When ravioli is cooked, layer half onto a plate.

    Then, add a layer of cheese, preferably kerma, gouda, or port salt.

    Turn heat off from the pan with sauce and squash. Layer the squash on top of cheese and cover with half the sauce.

    Layer the rest of the ravioli, and add the rest of the squash.
