Are there any active forks of Eternity/Infinity, or should we keep waiting for an update?
  • All latest commits are mainly translation updates. If you ignore those it feels like there is no more commits. Or I am not looking where I should?

  • Does Android still need third-party launchers?
  • Swiping left or right on home to switch apps doesn't work. Swiping up on home to bring recent apps works so so. It's slow to trigger or have to swipe almost at top of the screen. Going back to home is also slow. Wallpaper is immediately show but icons take 3/4 seconds to appear. With buttons it's instant. With other apps no problem.

I am using nova latest beta on Android 14 with a OnePlus 12. As it is fairly recent maybe it still need optimization.

  • Does Android still need third-party launchers?
  • Yes even though android gestures are not working correctly with them and it's best to revert to 3 buttons navigation.

  • Sousou no Frieren • Frieren: Beyond Journey's End - Episode 21 discussion
  • Very closely. I may have not noticed but it seems to me they didn't skip anything.

  • Mastodon.World / Lemmy.World blog post: Q4 2023 overview
  • Any news about updating LemmyWorld server to 0.19 ?

  • Mangadex and Batoto extensions have been removed due complaints from copyright holders
  • Even though they are closed and conversation has been locked links to GitHub issues for those interested : Issue #19553 and Issue #19554

  • Is there a sponsor block situation for Podcasts?
  • You can also set for each podcasts a skip intro and outro time.

  • Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan (2023) - Episode 24 discussion - FINAL
  • Finished to watch it. It was an anime I was waiting for but I found it average. In my memory old version was better. :-/

  • Finally installed F-Droid
  • Agree with all suggestions. I didn't see any image viewer so my recommendation for that is to use Aves.

  • Libre Arts - GIMP 3.0 finally has a release schedule
  • Sadly, I don't think so. Searching about that I found out they switched to GTK3 interface being default just before GTK4 was released... And making the switch from GTK2 took a long time.

  • Libre Arts - GIMP 3.0 finally has a release schedule
  • I admit for the very limited things I do and only occasionally I use Paint.net

Still in my mind Gimp is much more powerful?

YouTube Says New 5-Second Video Load Delay Is Supposed to Punish Ad Blockers, Not Firefox Users
  • Mind you that Firefox will adjust it to be able to fully support ad blocker.

  • Google CEO Pichai advises Android users not to sideload apps
  • Hope there will be movement from some governments to forbid having no choice about store for apps. I don't know about iPhone but is there really no other way but apple store to install app? Apart from jailbreaking? If so I am concerned nothing has / is already been done about forcing their stores on users.

  • The future is now
  • So true... Not only sometimes it makes it hard to find the translated function name (especially since they are adding a lot of new functions) but there are quite often longer... For instance in French you go to a simple ifs to si.conditions...

  • Apple Argued Safari Is Three Different Browsers to Avoid Regulation in EU
  • Maybe there is something I don't understand but is it possible to install and use macOS safari version on iOS? I don't understand how it can be a good / serious argument from Apple ???

I would think to be compliant with regulation you should effectively be able to install an alternative on your device? Which I believe is possible since there is a firefox on iOS. Even though as far as I know all browser on iOS are powered by the same underlying engine.

  • Android: Tabs merging
  • With recent beta, besides creating a custom collection, you can now install directly from extensions pages. You may have to toggle desktop to make it works.

  • Dark Gathering - Episode 13 discussion
  • She is a psycho. Had my hope she would turn good after confronting soldiers spirits but no. I hope she would not betray Keitaro and Yayoi just to have more thrill... Apart for someone dying because of her I don't think she would realized it's not good and she has to change.

  • Dark Gathering - Episode 4 discussion
  • Same here. Hope Eiko is not a total psycho! 😱

  • Feature request: Option for internal browser for opening external links
  • What's the difference with using custom tabs? It already allows you to open link without leaving app. If it is mainly about browsing history I guess you wouldn't want to have history no matter which app you used and so you could set custom tabs to open in private mode by default. (At least you can with Firefox)

  • Fully agree. Instead of having a bot posting articles there should be a sticked thread or a wiki to list interesting sources and their RSS. User could add them to their RSS client if they want. When they have a reaction then they could share on Lemmy and comment it.
