Susperia (2018)
  • I enjoyed this one quite a bit, although as many have mentioned it gets pretty wild towards the end. I have no nostalgia for the original, but watched it a few months before this one and the two contrast really well. For one, Thom Yorke’s soundtrack is absolutely stunning and such an interesting choice considering Goblin’s music in the original.

  • What JRPG’s will you play on March. What games did you finish last month?
  • I'm not really a JRPG person at all, but I picked up a SteamDeck with hopes of getting myself back into gaming and kicked up Final Fantasy X on a whim. I'm probably about half way through and having a great time so far. I grew up watching my brother play a lot of FF games (although I can't say that I remember any of them ever being beaten), so I have a soft spot for them.

I'm not really sure what I'm going to play next. I have a list of other JRPGs that I'd like to play, but I also started playing Suikoden II, so if I stick with it I'll probably play something non-JRPG on the side to try and avoid burning myself out on the genre.

  • I think Mint is better out of the box than it used to be. I was on it maybe 5 or 6 years ago and had to troubleshoot a few issues, but I just came back to it a few months ago and everything worked flawlessly out of the box.

  • [Discussion] Do you have franchise fatigue? Or is there still a franchise that you enjoy seeing?
  • Regarding the Marvel movies, I’ve slowly been working through them because I missed the bus when they were big and only saw a handful here and there (Doctor Strange, Guardians Vol 1 and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man movies, which are actually pretty good).

I made it past the first Avengers movies and I think they start getting better after Iron Man 3, Thor 2 and Avengers: Age of Ultron, but oh my gosh if the majority of the movies up to and including the first Avengers aren’t incredibly mid at best. I think watching them after all of the hype as they were coming out loses some of the charm, and I have to give props to what they accomplished creating a Cinematic Universe. But they are just so whatever.

Just kind of rambling, but the whole MCU seems to be incredibly over-saturated and I would be amazed if they are able to continue to carry popularity even close to what they had leading up to Endgame.

  • [Discussion] Steam Deck Emulators [2 Weeks Later]
  • They were just the default settings when I setup Emudeck a week or two ago. I did setup RetroDeck too as I liked the more containerized nature of it, but it seems to run an older version of Yuzu (has a different, lower number in the window name) and even when I mirrored the settings of my Emudeck version it was pretty stuttery and crashed at least once.

But I can look at my settings and share later today.

  • The one I have you can set temperature that it heats to and tell it to either hold that temperature or get to it and then it’ll just cool off if you don’t use it. It has more settings but I’ve just had it set to 194 for forever.

I will say that I swear I spent closer to $50-60 for mine but it’s at like $105 on Amazon right now which is absurd. But looking at the price history on camelcamelcamel the price really has climbed a bit over the past few years. It used to drop around $60-70 a bit. Ridiculous how expensive things are getting.

  • I’ve had a bonavita electric kettle for 5+ years and it’s been great. I just use it for heating up water ~daily and have zero complaints (not sure if there is anything else that you would be looking for an electric kettle to do). I’m pretty sure it was like $50 on Amazon.

  • I’ve had an Anker 2 port 3A charger for at least 5 years or so and don’t have any complaints about it. I’ve been an Anker fanboy for a while (albeit, I don’t buy a ton of electronics, but when I do need something Anker is my go-to), but I will say that doing some Googling recently it sounds like their quality might be going down. Just something to be aware of; I’ll probably keep buying from them unless I have a bad experience or keep hearing similar things. I’m just not aware of an alternative that’s as good as they have been.

  • My ex wants me back
  • I’ll take another look at it. I had a pihole setup and tried to switch it over when I moved to ATT but couldn’t find any DNS options. After some quick Googling the unanimous answer seemed to be that ATT doesn’t let you. But I’ll look into it again, I would love to get my pihole working again.

  • My ex wants me back
  • I have zero love for ATT but love my fiber plan. I’d like to switch, since they don’t let me change the DNS server, but the plan I had before was awful and my internet dropped all the time.

  • What is your unpopular flim opinion
  • I think you have to judge a movie based on what it's meant to be, and for a fun high fantasy jaunt, this was a monumental achievement. IMHO.

I think more people need to understand this.

    Very well said.
