Developer remakes The Simpsons: Hit and Run from scratch
  • The graphics. That said, it wasn’t really trying to improve on anything. It was never going to be released.

  • Developer remakes The Simpsons: Hit and Run from scratch
  • For what it’s worth, there was never any pretence that he would release the project. He stated so multiple times throughout its development.

  • Christopher Nolan isn't happy 'Barbie' will premiere the same weekend as his film, 'Oppenheimer,' sources say
  • That's a shame, considering how actors involved in both films are out there supporting each other's movie. Nolan looks bad by comparison.

  • (Linux users !) What was the first Linux distro that you used ?
  • Ubuntu 8.04, and I got it on one of those free discs they used to send out.

  • Those who have not deleted their Reddit accounts, do you still visit the site for anything?
  • If I’m looking something up, sometimes the answer lies in a post or comment on Reddit. When that happens I revisit, however I’m always logged out now and never engage, comment, etc. beyond reading what I need and leaving.

  • These are the privacy permissions that you grant for Meta's new twitter competitor
  • I have to praise Apple for forcing developers to show this information about their apps. The transparency is a really good thing for consumer awareness.

  • No matter who you are, thanks for being here.
  • I think Lemmy is really cool, and I'm excited to see where it goes from here!

  • People with bad sense of direction, can you enjoy open world games?
  • I can navigate game worlds more effectively than I can the real world. I can struggle to visualise a local route but could probably walk you through several zones of a Souls game.

  • Is Coke Zero also carcinogenic?
  • It’s still good to know, precisely because a lot of people drink a LOT of diet soda because it feels guilt-free.

  • If Lemmy and Mastodon continues to get popular, we will eventually get Instance wars.
  • Why is the Shower Thoughts community essentially meta discussion of Lemmy and not, well, shower thoughts?

  • What games have y'all been playing a lot on your deck recently?
  • I’m really into it so the outlay is worth it for me, already clocked hundreds of hours since launch.

The cosmetics are egregiously expensive, but they’re only cosmetic so they are quite easy for me to completely ignore.

  • is there a good search engine out there?
  • Kagi is great but I feel they’ll struggle with their current pricing. I have a discounted rate for their pro tier, $10 for 1500 queries, and I think even that is expensive.

  • What games have y'all been playing a lot on your deck recently?
  • Diablo 4! I’m really pleased with how well it runs.

  • This community only exists because the shower is one of the last places left where it’s still uncomfortable to use a smartphone.
  • I find a bath less refreshing and also more likely to make me sweat and feel uncomfortably warm. I can take a pretty hot shower and still not have those problems.

I basically solved it by no longer taking my phone into the shower.

  • Custom firefox using only css
  • Looks great, very easy on the eyes.

  • This community only exists because the shower is one of the last places left where it’s still uncomfortable to use a smartphone.
  • I hold my phone in one hand, out of the stream of water, and browse RedditLemmy, Twitter, YouTube, whatever I feel like browsing. During this time, I'm not cleaning myself, I'm just standing, enjoying the hot water, and reading whatever I'm reading.

With that said, I've stopped doing this because it's a huge waste of water and money.

  • Lemmy resembles the old reddit experience so well that they even emulate the old reddit server performance
  • But the point of wefwef is to feel familiar to those who used and are missing Apollo, the most popular iOS app.

There has been a groundswell of Android apps starting up and not a great deal of activity in the iOS-specific space. So, wefwef is welcome for those looking for something that ticks that box.

YSK: While you're on Lemmy/Kbin/Fediverse, you're not "the product" but you're also not "the customer".
  • I don't really think there's a risk of a business having an abundance of deference to the customer. Would be a nice problem to have, these days.
