Yeah, I know at least a few others that have uploaded their closed source code to Codeberg not knowing about the content disclaimer. Not sure how enforceable it is, but it's definitively not something most people would ignore if they knew about it, especially in the context of a company.
Also we don't have any issue with sharing the name of our company ("Offcenit AS"), just be aware that we have been working on the relevant information from back to front and it's not fully available yet, we currently have https://alkemi.no/ for our cluster setup and documentation, but we are still working on completely redesigning our company website and make it available in English. You can read a bit about the principles we try to work by on alkemi.no but just as a bit of background about the company itself; we started back in 2017, everyone in the company own equal shares and ownership in the company. We try to stay as a smaller entity with as little overhead as possible - everyone has all the skills required to step in to do any tasks of someone else in the company, that includes anything from the business side of things to developing and hosting, though we all specialise a bit differently and have our own niches. We also try to be as open as possible with how we work, and we do this through dogfeeding, not just the in things we develop but also by sharing documents that would usually be kept more internal to a company. Other than that a lot of our marketing is through word of mouth, but we've been working on becoming a bit more public recently.
Yeah I've mostly been lurking up until now, added the matrix handle ;) I'm the one that's been responsible for most of the setup surrounding hosting Forgejo, so you can just PM me directly, looking forward to discussing it further! :D
Thanks for noting this, our company has been dogfeeding and running a Forgejo instance for over a year by now (we got over 100 customers that we are running on this platform) and are currently creating a self-service hosting solution for a lot of different projects/systems, but other than allowing others to get access to use our self-service we never considered hosting Forgejo for others as Codeberg existed and we weren’t aware of the FOSS only rule.
Feel free to reach out if it’s of interest, I haven’t discussed this in the team but there’s nothing in the way to set up a dedicated Forgejo instance for a company based on our current setup (on our servers, but we can also work with on-premises/other clusters) or letting others access our instance. Since we’re based in Norway everything is hosted on multiple data centers in Finland using Kubernetes with a hybrid architecture of “cloud” and dedicated servers.
Since we use it ourselves we’ve made sure we got as close to 100% uptime/high performance as we can with Forgejo. We also got ACT runners and for login with got a tenant/auth/OIDC system with auditing (for those that need that).
We’ve been working for 5+ years to become independent of external companies, which is why we’re a bit ahead of schedule.
