It's not jealousy
  • I’m aware of the small difference now, but when I had just turned 18, I was in high school. I had no concept of anything even remotely adult. I didn’t even know how to make a bowl of ramen. 22 year olds had their own apartment, some worked full time jobs, fed themselves independently, they could drink, it was a whole world that seemed so removed and adult to me.

  • Nothing was off-limits for retro game ads
  • Honestly, might be nostalgic for guys, but as a girl who was playing games in this era, it made me feel like I wasn’t a part of the culture, rarely if ever were there ads marketed towards me, but man were there a lot of half naked ladies. Glad we don’t do this as much, but god this caused a lot of younger girls to feel ashamed of playing games “for boys”.

  • It's not jealousy
  • The dudes in this thread really managed to remind me how gross it felt when men double my age tried to view me as a sexual object before sexual maturity. At 18, a 22 year old was an old man to me. A 35 year old was older than my fucking father. I didn’t even mature early or wear actual bras until I was legal, but that never stopped the discomfort. Ew guys, do better. You’re not fucking Leo, Leo is fucking creepy too.

  • Oooh I’d take Eyes in the Dark!

  • The Weekly 'What are you playing?' Discussion
  • I’m replaying Omori since I was on laptop/switch friendly games for the past two weeks visiting family, but I didn’t water the flowers my first playthrough so I’m here for the good good ending.

Canine veterinary assistant lets patient know everything is going to be OK
  • I’ve worked for a few vet clinics over the years and every once in awhile, I’d work with vets that absolutely bring their dog to work under the guise of them being comfort pets. They also absolutely do stress out a lot of animals.

  • What are some alternative to soulless videogame franchises?
  • I need to go back to Detention. I was really enjoying it but I think something spooked me too close to bedtime and I hadn’t picked it up since.

  • Alan Wake 2 - Review Thread (90/100 OpenCritic)
  • I never played the first one past the tutorial because I was younger and it got too scary. I had a forced PC upgrade and got the game for free and probably would have finished by now, but the whole sounds not syncing up is ruining my immersion, so I guess I’ll wait a few more patches.

  • What was a profound moment that a video game caused you to experience, and why?
  • I know and I’ve downloaded it and tried it so many times over the years, but can’t make it past the tutorial without getting frustrated.

  • What was a profound moment that a video game caused you to experience, and why?
  • I could never get into it either. People are so so obsessed with this game. They tell you to never look anything up, etc. I’ve tried it on mouse and keyboard, I’ve tried it on controller and the gameplay does not feel right, so I’ve never left the ground tutorial area.

  • I’m glad dogs are so normalized, this isn’t even a thing anymore. They’ll be just chilling next to their owner.

  • My baby boi Radar tested positive for lyme disease yesterday :(
  • My pup also got Lyme disease. I thought it was the end, but she recovered so well and we got a few more years together. She was an English bulldog, so a few more years for them is a lot. I know bloodwork is a pain and pricey, but absolutely monitor his kidneys over time, keeping on top of kidney function with Lyme is super helpful. Even when the kidney values are low, there’s prescription diets that can help with everything. (I worked in vet medicine too, so know these things.)

  • I'm sure they're fine
  • There was actually a whole thing going around in like November/December in the service industry in NYC where they’d be treated for pneumonia, but were told it wasn’t quite pneumonia. They’re pretty convinced at this point it was Covid. One of my friends got hit again in 2021 and said the symptoms were damn near the same.

  • You have five minutes to talk to your pets where they can fully understand every word you tell them. What do you say?
  • I’d say I love you, you’re my whole heart, and I hope I made you even half as happy as you made me.

  • I worked in vet medicine and this is such a good idea for when you’re wrangling a dog or cat for diagnostics.

  • Humble Bundle: Myst & More
  • I never finished Myst as a kid because my dad was so big on horror games, I assumed Myst would get spooky. Also link to bundle. https://www.humblebundle.com/games/myst-more-redux-30-years-myst

  • Honestly it’s been more incentive for me to move away from the AAA stuff and lean way more indie. They have demos, deep sales, and they make an effort to engage with the community. It is a bummer the lack of demos available on consoles though.

  • I love Nathan and think he can do damn near anything, he was just everyone’s choice for Hal, it’s wild he ended up as Guy.
