The capitalist nations were no help at all, and forced the Soviets to waste resources on a strong military. But even despite their failings, communism was still the best thing to ever happen to Russia. Unfortunately, Russia was also the worst thing that ever happened to communism.

And it doesn't make communism sound scary at all, but rather mysterious, alluring, and worth checking out.
